Roundup: Priante wins BNC wrestling title

ALPENA — TC West freshman Vincent Priante was one of nine Titans to medal at Saturday's Big North Conference wrestling championships at Alpena.

Priante went 5-0 to capture the league title at 103 points. Taking second with 4-1 marks for the Titans were Jonah Jasmin at 119 pounds and 135-pounder Caleb Case.

TC West had third-place finishes from Tyler Post (112), Michael Lambert (130) Gabe Jasmin (152), Josh Wheaton (171), Ryan Drake (189) and James Peck (215).

TC Central heavyweight Sean Monnier scored a third-place finish. Also getting a win for the Trojans were Hunter Luhrs (125) and Justice Korson (140).

Wrestling

Kingsley has nine league medalists

Kingsley competed at the Mid-Michigan Conference meet at Pine River and came away with nine medalists.

Josh Parks was the 189-pound champ for the Stags while David Bruner (103), Max Denny (119), Demetrius Atwood (135) and Brian Lark (171).

Patrick Denny was third at 145 pounds and collected his 100th career win. Julian Tompkins (125), Nick Burcicki (152) and Dustin Kerr (215) all took fourth.

HOCKEY

Bay Reps      8 Monroe St. Mary      0

Zach Hill and Nate Wilson each had two goals and two assists as the Bay Reps rolled to an 8-0 win over Monroe St. Mary.

The Reps (9-11) had a goal and three assists from Trevor Apsey while Nick Sicinski had a goal and two assists. Andrew Dzierwa and Gavin Uitvlugt each had a goal while Jakson Drake and Travis Kirk had an assist.

Jay Jones made 17 saves for the shutout.

The Reps are off until the MIHL Showcase next weekend.

GIRLS HOOPS

Northport      57 Vanderbilt      10

Northport rolled to a 57-10 win over Vanderbilt.

The Wildcats (3-9) had 15 points from Autumn Huck while Morgan Collins and Yesenia Perez each scored 10 points.

Northport plays GT Academy on Wednesday.

TCBAA win tournament

The TCBAA basketball team won a homeschool tournament in Grand Rapids.

The Bulldogs opened with a 57-40 win over the Quad City Mustangs. Molly Plamondon had 17 points and five rebounds, Sarah Plamondon had 13 points and nine rebounds while Casey Plamondon had 11 points.

In the title game, TCBAA beat CHAPS 60-42. Casey Plamondon had 20 points, nine rebounds and seven steals, Sarah Plamondon had 19 points and eight rebounds while Molly Plamondon had 12 points.

BOYS HOOPS

Northport      61 Vanderbilt      15

Northport picked up its second win in as many days with a 61-15 victory over Vanderbilt.

The Wildcats (5-7) had 14 points from Bill Stowe while Zach Kalchik had 11 points.

Northport plays the TC Bulldogs on Tuesday.
