Multi-event winners highlight quad track meet

TRAVERSE CITY — Molly Peregrine and Courtney Cadotte each won a pair of events for Traverse City Central and Holly Bullough had a pair of firsts for St. Francis to lead their respective schools in a four-team meet on Tuesday at Central High School.

Peregrine was first in the 3,200 (11:35.56) and 1,600 (5:24.22), while Cadotte was first in the 100 (12.96) and 200 (27.62). Bullough won the 400 (1:00.66) and 800 (2:50.1).

TC Central, TC West, St. Francis and Benzie Central were the four teams that competed in season-opening outdoor the meet.

Central had a meet-best 11 first-place finishes. Other winners for the Trojans included Maddy Weatherholt in the 100 hurdles (17.77), Brianna Worthington in the 300 hurdles (53.28), Bailey Versluis in the long jump (15-8), Graceanne Tarsa in the pole vault (9-6) and Carissa Bartkowiak in the high jump (4-9). Central also captured the 3,200 relay with the team of Amanda Gardner, Peregrine and Jordan Mattarella (10:21.44) and the 400 relay with the team of MaKenna Beers, Morgan Scollard, Taylor Cobb and Cadotte (52.0).

St. Francis won the 800 relay with the team of Micah Ellalasingham, Sophie Mackey, Madeline Zamarron and Emily Weitzel (2:11.04).

Benzie Central’s lone win came from Mariah Hanson in the discus (85-9).

Central’s Aaron Taylor and Alex Liggett each won a pair of events on the boys side as Central claimed 13 wins on the day. Taylor captured the high jump (5-11) and long jump (20-7), while Liggett was first in the 110 hurdles (14.82) and 200 (23.88). Liggett also joined Anthony Kratovil, Devante Walker and Alex Hu on the winning 400 relay (45.21).

Also for the Trojans, John Piatek took first in the shot put (52-7), Justin Cutler won the pole vault (12-0), Cam McAuliffe was first in the 1,600 (4:40.37), Josh Belcher won the 300 hurdles (41.83) and Anthony Berry took the 800 (2:00.68). The Central 3,200 relay team of Kyle Dotterrer, McAuliffe, Chris Brower and Berry ran a time of 8:25.99, while the 800 relay team of Walker, Kratovil, Rhys Adle and Belcher ran a time of 1:34.38 and the 1,600 relay team of Dotterrer, McAuliffe, Adle and Berry took first.

For West, Tommy Roush won the discus with a throw of 156-6, Jack Bishop won the 100 (11.31) and Nick Hirschenberger won the 3,200 (10:38.72).

Mike Connolly won the 400 for St. Francis (56.87).
