GT YMCA offering summer camps

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA is offering day camp for kids and teens in Traverse City this summer.

Among the offerings are: traditional day camp, K-camp, art camp, science and nature camp, sports camp and leaders club.

The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA offers financial assistance to those in need.

Grand TraverseMasters Swimmers

The Grand Traverse Master Swimmers placed 12th out of 26 teams at the Greater Indiana State Masters Championships, while an additional group of swimmers participated in the Michigan Master State Championships, with the women placing seventh, the men taking 10th and the combined team finishing ninth.

Top individual placers in Indiana included: Paula Colombo (45-49 age group), firsts in the 100 IM (1:10.76) and 100 backstroke (1:09.57), second in the 50 fly (30.82), and third in the 500 free (5:53.58); Courtney Greening (40-44), firsts in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.76), 200 breaststroke (2:39.12), and 200 IM (2:27.93); Sean Cabbage (40-44), firsts in the 500 free (6:18.46) and 1,000 free (13:14.46), second in the 50 fly (29.71) and eighth in the 50 free (26.7).

Top individual placers in Michigan included: Megan Miles (20-24), seconds in the 50 backstroke (30.40), 100 backstroke (1:05.94), 50 free (26.49), and 100 free (58.73); Courtney Greening (30-34), seconds in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, 50 butterfly and 100 IM; Terri Hanson (50-54), fourths in the 100 butterfly (1:55.18) and 200 butterfly (4:40.06), fifth in the 200 free (1:05.4), sixth in the 100 IM (1:41.04), and eighth in the 100 free (1:23.75); Kathy Coffin-Sheard (50-54), firsts in the 50 free (27.51), 100 free (1:02.93) and the 50 breaststroke, with a new state record time of 37.37, and a second in teh 50 backstroke (33.83); Kyle Seimer (25-29), firsts in the 200 free (2:19.68) and 1,000 free (13:36.76); Matt Cowall (40-44), second in the 200 free (2:13.03), third in the 500 free (6:17.02), fourth in the 100 free (59.59) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (28.75); Pete Shireman (55-59), seconds in the 1,000 free (13:41.81), 50 breaststroke (37.13), 100 breaststroke (1:20.86), and 200 breaststroke (2:54.38), and fourths in the 200 backstroke (2:43.5) and 200 IM (2:45.18); Ken Godin (60-64), fourths in the 50 backstroke (36.77), 50 breaststroke (37.43) and 50 butterfly (35.39), sixth in the 100 IM (1:17.38), seventh in the 100 free (1:09.98) and eighth in the 50 backstroke (36.77).
