Whitehall beats TC Christian

CADILLAC — Whitehall scored with eight minutes remaining to post a 2-1 Division 3 regional championship win over Traverse City Christian.

The Vikings' winning goal bounced in off the far post.

"It was a ping-pong match — back and forth, back and forth," TC Christian coach Ron Christie said. "We clearly had our chances."

Whitehall went up 1-0 eight minutes into the game, but the Sabres matched that score with a Cam Beemer goal set up by Jacob Rorick in the 30th minute. Beemer beat the goaltender low right post.

"It was a nice goal for him," Christie said.

Christian finishes the season 14-10-3.

"We clearly could have moved on," Christie said. "Our team really gelled at the right time. They become and real tournament team."

Whitehall advances to play Grand Rapids South Christian in Wednesday's state semifinal at Hope College.
