LUDINGTON — Traverse City Central’s Amelia Pezzetti shot an even-par 72 to win medalist honors Friday in the 17-team Ludington Invitational.
East Kentwood won the team title with a 332. Spring Lake was seven shots back at 339. Glen Lake finished third at 369, Traverse City West fourth at 376 and Central and Ludington fifth at 385.
For Glen Lake, the 369 was the team’s second best of the season.
“The girls played well on a course they had never played before,” Lakers coach Paul Christiansen said. “They competed very well. They kept it fair and avoided big scores.”
Freshman Nichole Cox led the Lakers, tying for fourth with a 79. Madison Hill carded a 95, Melanie Kulanda 97 and Nicole Pace 98.
For West, freshman Hunter Kehoe shot 86, Taylor Kehoe 88, Emily Northway 100 and Grace Ellul 102.
Pezzetti’s 72 was a career best.
“She shot the lights out,” Central coach Lois McManus said.
Zoe Sobeck added a 93, Abbhie Crick 104 and Carrie Wynkoop 116 for the Trojans.
Central’s White team finished 15th with a 468. Carley Laird came in at 103, Molly Smith 112, Sam Mahon 116 and Laura Buchanan 140.

Suttons Bay 0
Jacob Rorick netted four goals as Traverse City Christian defeated Suttons Bay 8-0.
Cam Beemer, Wes Nelson, Peter Brick and Ben Colburn also tallied for the Sabres. David Bump had the shutout in goal.
Christian travels to Calvin Christian next Friday while Suttons Bay plays Leland on Tuesday.

Traverse City St. Francis beat Grand Rapids South Christian 5-3 in a matchup of ranked Division 4 squads.
The No. 5 Gladiators topped the No. 6 Sailors on the strength of taking three of four doubles matches.
The Glads doubles flights had wins by Blake Bandrowski/Jay Jones (6-3, 6-2), Brady Ray/Nathan Tafelsky (6-4, 6-2) and Ryan Navin/Jackson Richmond (6-2, 6-3).
Earning singles wins were Sam Holmes (6-2, 6-2) at No. 1 and Jack Krcmarik (7-6 , 6-3), whose record is now 28-3.
St. Francis was also supposed to play No. 3 Grand Rapids West Catholic, but the Falcons didn’t have enough players for a full match and decided not to play.
