Prep Sports Roundup: Titans upend Petoskey

PETOSKEY — Traverse City West won for the fourth time in the last five games, beating Petoskey 33-21 in a Big North Conference girls basketball game Thursday.

The Titans (5-10, 5-4 Big North) were ahead 22-18 entering the final period, but outscored the Northmen 11-3 in the fourth.

Kimmy Bilinski and Kylie Kreple each had nine points for the Titans, while Paris Wagner had seven points and nine rebounds. Natalie Weaver led Petoskey with six points and four rebounds.

West hosts Alpena and Petoskey hosts Cadillac on Saturday.

West took the junior varsity game 28-24. Kalyn Havens had eight for West.

Petoskey won the freshman game 32-19.

Manistee 47

Cadillac 44

Down 12 in the third quarter, unbeaten Manistee rallied for a 47-44 non-league win over Cadillac.

Audrey Tomaszewski had 14 points and Emma Burns 10 points, 11 blocks and seven rebounds for the 14-0 Chippewas, who hit 17 of 21 free throws in the second half. Abby Fuller led Cadillac with 16 points.

Glen Lake 41

Leland 33

Leland led through much of the first half, but Glen Lake overtook the Comets in the second half as the Lakers posted a 41-33 win.

The Comets (6-8) were ahead 12-4 after one period and 16-15 at the half. Glen Lake pulled ahead by two entering the fourth quarter, 27-25.

Jessica Lee had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Jordan Peplinski 14 points and 11 rebounds for Glen Lake (9-5, 7-2 Northwest).

For Leland, which hosts the TC Bulldogs on Monday, Libby Munoz had 19 points and Caitlin McKee had 10 points.

Kingsley 57

Benzie Central 35

Autumn Goggin’s 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals led Kingsley to a 57-35 Northwest Conference win over Benzie Central.

Lily Travis added 15 points, five rebounds and three steals for Kingsley (10-5, 8-3). Sarah Goodchild had 13 for Benzie.

Suttons Bay 45

Buckley 36

Hannah Steed scored nine points while Delaney Kaufman and Jane Hursey added eight each as Suttons Bay defeated Buckley 45-36 in Northwest Conference play.

Hannah Baldinger netted 13 points and Marlee Harris 10 for Buckley. Kaufman pulled down 18 rebounds for the Norse (7-8, 5-4), who travel to Frankfort on Tuesday.
