TRAVERSE CITY — Petoskey outscored Traverse City Central 5-0 in overtime Friday night to pull out a 52-47 Big North Conference basketball win.
The Trojans (2-10, 2-5) were down 10 at half, but opened the third quarter on an 11-0 run. Central led 41-39 after three quarters.
Nate Schlusler paced the Trojans with 13 points. Jackson Schramayer added 12 points and nine rebounds and Mitch Wynkoop 11 points and nine rebounds.
Joe LeBlanc and Parker Monley topped Petoskey with 12 points apiece.
Petoskey won the JV game 42-34. James Brumfield had 11 for Central.
The Trojan freshmen won 52-42 as Nik Norton scored 19, Fitz Doud 13 and Jordan Ruckle 12.
Central is at Gaylord on Tuesday.
Suttons Bay 64
Jarid Lueck scored 17 points and Stacy Almquist 15 as Kingsley knocked off Suttons Bay 67-64 in a Northwest Conference game.
All 10 Stags scored in the win. Suttons Bay missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
“We needed one to go our way for once,” Kingsley coach Dennis Schaar said. “This is a huge win for us.”
Kingsley is now 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the league. Suttons Bay fell to 7-3 overall, 5-2 in the league.
“We had a hard time finding a flow (offensively),” Suttons Bay coach Ron Anderson said.
Aaron Orban had 19 points and Logan Mikesell 15 for the Norse.
The game was tied at half 24-24. Kingsley then took a four-point led 46-42 into the fourth quarter.
Kingsley hosts Frankfort tonight while Suttons Bay entertains St. Francis.
Benzie Central 31
Frankfort took the lead in the Northwest Conference with a 47-31 victory over Benzie Central.
Ken Frieswyk led the Panthers (7-2, 5-1) with 12 points. David Loney and Connor Bradley added nine points and Kole Hollenbeck eight. Hollenbeck shut down Benzie’s top scorer Ismael Halaweh. Austin Ross had 11 for Benzie (4-6, 4-3).
Austin Fellows scored 21 points as Leland pulled away in the second half for a 66-54 Northwest Conference win over Mesick.
Tyler Leveque added 16 points and Cam Stowe 10 for the Comets (6-5, 4-3), who led 28-26 at half. Peter Roush paced Mesick with 16.
Glen Lake 65
Carter Lee was on target for 26 points to spark Glen Lake to a 65-47 Northwest Conference win over Buckley.
Luke Somsel netted 12 points and Bryce Guernsey 11 for the Bears (0-10), who face Onekama on Monday.
Denny Hall hit two free throws with three seconds remaining to give Bellaire a 51-49 Ski Valley basketball victory over Mancelona.
Mancelona missed a shot with about 30 seconds to go. Bellaire then worked the clock until Hall was fouled on a drive to the basket.
Hall finished with 19 points, Adam Underwood 10 and Hunter Rowe nine for the Eagles, who trailed 36-33 after three quarters.
Brandon Dingman had 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Ironmen (8-3, 6-2), who travel to Pellston on Wednesday. Griffin Borst added 17 points and seven rebounds.
Forest Area 66
Gaylord SM 57
Austin Vance and Justin Burke combined for 48 points and 22 rebounds as Forest Area beat Gaylord St. Mary 66-57 in Ski Valley play.
Vance finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds while Burke had 23 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors (5-4, 4-3). Nick Harrington led St. Mary with 21 points. Charles Strehl added 17.
Elk Rapids 66
Elk Rapids got double-doubles from Cole Walker and Adam Trautman as the Elks downed Grayling 66-51.
Walker had 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Trautman contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Nikola Dimitrov added 12 points and Shae Somers had 12 points and eight rebounds.
For Grayling, Tyler McClanahan had 13 points.
East Jordan 79
Harbor Springs 69
Jordan Weber led a balanced attack with 28 points as East Jordan defeated Harbor Springs 79-69 in Lake Michigan Conference play.
Noah Bacchus added 15 points and seven assists, Donny Cutler 11 points and six assists and Dustin Hejka 10 points off the bench. Justin Roberts and David Walker netted 19 points apiece for the Rams. Pete Kelbel chipped in 10.
TC Christian 58
Ben Larkin tossed in 21 points as Traverse City Christian posted a 58-17 win over Grand Traverse Academy.
Kris Crosby added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Sabres (5-3), who travel to Boyne Falls on Monday.
Christian won the JV 57-35 as Grant Maurer finished with 22 points — two on a dunk — and 13 rebounds.
Lake Leelanau SM 52
Manistee CC 42
Lake Leelanau St. Mary outscored Manistee Catholic Central 29-19 in the first half on the way to a 52-42 win.
Drew Pobuda had 13 points and 11 boards for St. Mary. Jack Garthe added 11 points, Dan Duperon 10 points and Christian Holmes eight for the Eagles.
Ben Feliczak led Catholic Central with 19.
St. Ignace 62
Carlos Bautista’s 21 points and 12 rebounds powered Onaway to a 68-62 Ski Valley win over St. Ignace.
Joe O’Bradovich added 12 points, 18 rebounds and six steals for the Cardinals (9-2), who travel to Central Lake on Monday. Andrew Prow contributed 11 points and Joe Sigsby nine points and five assists.
Bear Lake 72
Shane Peterson scored 23 points as Bear Lake upended Onekama 72-48 in the West Michigan D.
Riley Merrill contributed 16 points and eight rebounds and Bryson Waller 15 points and six rebounds for the Lakers (7-2, 6-1). Jarret Sovereign led Onekama with 17.
Beal City 82
Beal City gained the lead late in the first quarter and gradually built on it while securing an 82-53 victory over host McBain.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Ramblers (5-5, 4-3) and enabled the Aggies (6-4, 6-1) to stay a game behind front-runner Pine River in the Highland Conference.
Sophomore Cole Powell produced 10 points to pace McBain.
Senior Ryan Tilmann tallied 25 to pace Beal City.
St. Francis Frosh 62
Boyne City 50
St. Francis put three players in double figures in a 62-50 win over Boyne City.
Chris Kolarevic led the attack with 18 points for the Gladiators (4-3). Sam Ludka added 11 and Sayler Tarrant 10.
Bay Reps 8
The Bay Reps scored seven times in the second period to cruise past Gaylord 8-0.
Leading 1-0 after the first period, on a goal from Trevor Apsey that was assisted by Travis Kirk, the Reps exploded in the second and enacted the mercy rule.
Zach Bargy had two scores in the second period. Josh Hill, Kirk, Jakson Drake, John VanRaalte and R.J. Deneweth also scored for the Reps (6-13-1). Deneweth and Drake each collected two assists. Gavin Uitlvgt, Nick Brewer, Luke Stapleton, Duke Angers and Ben Yaaboky also assisted goals.
In his first game in goal, Cam McCumby got the shutout victory, facing seven shots. The Reps put 44 shots on Gaylord’s net.
TC West 1
Jacob Benker scored a game-tying goal in the first period, but Alpena followed with two goals in the second and one in the third to defeat Traverse City West 4-1 in Big North Conference hockey.
Taylor wins high jump
Aaron Taylor of the Snowdogs Track Club won the high jump at 6-feet Friday in an indoor track meet at Grand Valley.
He was also fourth in the 60-meter high hurdles (8.8).
John Piatek finished second in the shot put (53-2) wile Austin Plamondon and Adam Foster tied for seventh (44-8).
Kyle Dotterrer came in seventh in the elite 3200 (9:35). Cam McAuliffe was 12th (9:57).
