PETOSKEY — Eliza McCall’s three-point play with 30 seconds left put Traverse City Central ahead and the Trojans went on to beat Petoskey 36-35.
The Trojans (4-9, 4-4 Big North) outscored the Northmen (1-11, 1-6) 15-9 in the fourth quarter to come away with the victory.
Callie Bartkowiak had 12 points for the Trojans. Hannah Cook led Petoskey with 11 points.
The Central junior varsity fell 29-28. Haven Hill had nine for Central. The Central freshmen lost 32-20. Mary Drake led the way with 10.
TC West 27
Cadillac scored the go-ahead bucket with a couple seconds remaining on an offensive rebound as the Vikings defeated Traverse City West 28-27.
West put itself in position to win with solid defense, including holding the Vikings to two points in the final period, but missed its last five foul shots.
Kylie Kreple led West, which has lost seven games by three points or less, with 13 points. Paris Wagner pulled down nine boards. Abbey Fuller had seven points for Cadillac.
The Titans, who fell to 3-10 and 3-4 in the Big North, are at Alpena on Monday.
West lost the junior varsity game 43-32. Abby Moyes had 10 points and seven rebounds, while Sara Seivers had nine points for the Titans.
The freshman game was won by Cadillac 43-19. Olivia Fouchey led West with five points.
TC St. Francis 54
Boyne City 38
Traverse City St. Francis was firing on all cylinders at the start of Friday’s Lake Michigan Conference girls basketball game against Boyne City and used that start to take a 54-38 victory over the Ramblers at St. Francis High School.
The Gladiators grabbed a 21-8 lead after one period and went into the half holding a 35-14 advantage.
“The girls first half was probably our best half of the season,” said St. Francis coach Mike Knudsen. “They shot the ball really well and played great defense. I was really pleased.”
