Alpena 34

Traverse City Central held Alpena to two third-quarter points and 13 total in the second half as the Trojans won their first game of the year with a 42-34 victory over the Wildcats.

A slow start allowed the Wildcats to take a 19-13 halftime lead, but after a spirited halftime talk the Trojans responded with a stifling second-half defensive performance.

Alpena won the junior varsity game 54-50 as Abby Green scored 19 points for the Trojans. In the freshman game Alpena won 47-27, with Mary Drake leading the way with 10 points.

Cadillac 29

In a battle of Fuller-led teams, Manistee came out on top.

Annie Fuller had 11 points and seven rebounds to give the Chippewas a 33-29 nonconference win over Cadillac, which was paced by Abby Fuller’s eight points.

Audrey Tomaszewski added five points, six rebounds and four steals for Manistee (4-0), which is off until Jan. 4.
