Central-West hockey game moved

Game was to be played in Detroit; now it's at Howe

TRAVERSE CITY — The Dec. 19 hockey game between Traverse City Central and Traverse City West has a new venue.

Well, the old venue, actually.

The contest — scheduled to be played at Detroit's Comerica Park as part of the Winter Classic Festival — will now be played at Howe Arena after the Winter Classic was canceled Friday by the National Hockey League as the league continues its lockout of the player's union.

Both teams open the season in West's Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 23 at Centre ICE Arena.
