CADILLAC — Cadillac’s boys ran away with a Division 2 regional at Caberfae Peaks Ski Resort on Tuesday.
The Vikings finished with a combined 30 points in the slalom and giant slalom events.
Cadillac’s Keenan Cooper won the two disciplines, taking the slalom in 54.03, more than a second better than Spring Lake’s Bricker Reed.
Teammate Nate Houk was second in slalom and third in GS, while Dominic Cataldo took fourth in GS, Paul Kurtzman was fifth in slalom and seventh in GS, Chase Schultz placed 11th in slalom, Tyler Neiss took 10th in GS and Alex Best was 14th in GS.
In the girls races, Cadillac was first and Benzie Central second. The Vikings scored a meet-best 73 points and Benzie 132.
In slalom, Cadillac was led by Abigaile Divozzo (fifth), Gabrielle Sake (sixth), Emily Orcutt (ninth) and Sarah Mitchell (11th). In GS, Marissa VanAlst was the Vikings’ top placer in fifth, followed by Divozzo (10th), Orcutt (11th) and Mitchell (16th).
Benzie’s Morgan Papineau was fourth in slalom, while Aria Grabowski took 16th. In GS, Papineau was second by just 0.21 second, while Grabowski took 17th.
Manistee’s Alma Brinkman was third in giant slalom, while fellow Chippewa Syriah Dobis took eighth and Mallory Stefanski 14th.
Onekama’s Madeline Smeltzer was 19th in GS and 15th in slalom, while teammate Anna Buswinka was 13th in slalom.
West closes out regular season unbeaten
Traverse City West ended the regular season undefeated with a victory over crosstown rival TC Central, 22-8.
Leading the way for the Titans were Tyler Hadfield with a 267 and Kellor Flees with a 244. The top score for the Trojans went to Brad Wozniak with a 233. The win also clinched the Division I/II crown for West.
In Division III/IV, Bellaire put the finishing touches on its season with a 27-3 win over Benzie Central. Leading the way for the Eagles: Nick Betten’s 257 game and Jared Moody’s 247. High score for Benzie went to Orion Mackin at 204. Bellaire’s victory earned the Eagles the Division III/IV conference title.
