Bellaire rolls; Kingsley, Grayling fall in U.P.

BELLAIRE — Bellaire converted four first-half Kingston turnovers into four touchdowns in an opening-round 46-6 eight-man football playoff victory.

"We took care of business," Eagles coach Ron Bindi said.

Up next fro Bellaire (7-3) is hosting Owendale-Gagetown (8-2) next Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Eagles led 16-0 after two first-quarter touchdown runs by Chase Small — a 61-yarder and a 38-yarder. He also ran in both two-point conversions.

Hunter Walsh added a 33-yard TD pass to Wes Villafane and Jordan Proctor caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Villafane in the second quarter.

Zach Smith ran in two third-quarter touchdowns — one from 2 yards out and another from 36 — and Bailey Proctor closed out the scoring with a sack for a safety.

Small and Walsh led the defense with 11 tackles each, and Jordan Proctor and Villafane each had interceptions.

Bellaire ran up 398 yards of total offense, led by Small's 15 carries for 158 yards.

In other playoff football action, two area teams suffered setbacks in the Upper Peninsula.

Kingsford defeated Grayling 36-14 in Division 5 action, and Menominee topped Kingsley 49-16.
