Volleyball Roundup: 10/26/2012

REED CITY — Katie Travis set a school single season kill record Thursday as Kingsley swept White Cloud (25-13, 25-16), Benzie Central (25-13, 25-17) and Reed City (25-20, 25-22) in a quad here.

Travis had 32 kills, pushing her season total to 668. She also had 10 digs and seven blocks.

Also contributing for Kingsley (45-10-7): Leah Hall (nine kills, 13 digs, 67 assists, 43 of 43 serving), Kenzie Meeker (12 kills, 27 digs, 13 of 13 serving), Katie Garey (20 digs, 19 of 21 serving), Lindsey Weber (15 digs, 18 of 19 serving), Lilly Travis (five kills, 21 digs, 35 of 35 serving with five aces), Andrea Lee (six kills, four blocks) and Amanda Youker (five kills, four blocks).

TC Christian     3 Northport     1

Traverse City Christian earned a share of the Cherryland Conference title by beating Northport 13-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-16.

The Sabres tied Grand Traverse Academy for the crown.

Christian (17-23) was paced by Laura Murray (11 kills, one block, three aces, three digs), Maddie White (10 kills, one block, seven aces, one dig), Mikayla Brett (three kills, three blocks, five digs), Lauren Webb (10 digs, one ace, 100 percent serving) and Amanda Ufer (two kills, one dig).

TC St. Francis wins three matches at Suttons Bay

Traverse City St. Francis closed out the regular season with three victories in a quad meet at Suttons Bay.

The Gladiators (36-7-3) topped Suttons Bay (25-6, 25-9), Leland (25-18, 25-22) and Lake City (25-18, 25-12).

The Glads were led by Kaitlyn Hegewald (46 assists, 13 kills, six aces, four blocks), Bridgett Bussell (21 kills, three aces), Madeline Ryzstak (14 digs, 12 kills) and Olivia Hardy (four blocks, four kills).

Leland downed Lake City 25-15, 25-19 and Suttons Bay 25-13, 25-8.

The Comets (39-10-4) were paced by Brooke Olesnavage (35 kills, 14 digs, eight aces), Andrea Hunt (11 kills, two digs), Caitlyn McKee (38 assists), Felicia Whittaker (eight kills) and Whitney Schaub (12 aces, five digs).

Forest Area beats Buckley, Manton

Forest Area tuned up for district play by beating Buckley (25-20, 18-25, 15-12) and Manton (25-23, 26-24).

The Warriors (38-11-1) were led by Kortni Birgy (seven kills, 13 digs), Megan Gifford (19 assists), Tabitha Cecil (19 kills, three blocks), Emily Gonyer (seven kills, 20 digs, five aces), Alyssa Birgy (10 digs) an Dani Johne (four assists).

TC Central sweeps junior varsity quad

Traverse City Central's junior varsity swept a JV quad meet at Suttons Bay.

The Trojans won 3-0 against Leland, Suttons Bay and TC St. Francis' junior varsity squads.

Central — which finished with a 15-2 record in dual matches — was led by Liza McCall, Mariah Bensley, Ashley Reed, Allie Little, Megan Eshleman and Valerie Riedel.
