Soccer: One goal enough for Suttons Bay

FROM STAFF REPORTS

SUTTONS BAY -- Jason McKisson scored the only goal of the game with 9:17 remaining as Suttons Bay edged North Muskegon 1-0 Tuesday and advanced to Thursday's Division 4 regional soccer final.

Suttons Bay (25-1) will play Lincoln-Alcona at 7 p.m. The Tigers advanced with a 1-0 win over Harbor Light Christian.

McKisson's goal was assisted by Connor Ott and came after McKisson settled the ball in front from 12 yards out.

Freshman Jared Orban was the winning goalie for Suttons Bay, turning away seven shots including two that turned the tide.

"North Muskegon was really pouring it on in the second half," said Norse coach Randy U'Ren. "Then Jared made two huge saves and we were able to get it going again."

U'Ren also praised the play of senior midfielder Ryan Gardner, who "played the best game I've ever seen him play."

U'Ren was also impressed by his team's composure after North Muskegon received three yellow cards and a red card.

"I'm so proud of the way we played and the class we showed," U'Ren said.
