ELK RAPIDS -- Andy Tezak was in the helping mood on Tuesday.
Tezak assisted on all three goals as Elk Rapids opened Division 3 soccer district play with a 3-1 victory over Charlevoix.
The host Elks (14-6-1) will advance to Thursday's 7 p.m. district semifinal against Traverse City Christian, a 6-1 winner over East Jordan on Tuesday.
Against Charlevoix, John Greiner and Trevor Chase staked Elk Rapids to a 2-0 halftime lead. Sean Pappas had the second-half goal for the Elks.
Charlevoix spoiled a shutout by Nick Thompson, who made 13 saves, with a goal in the final three minutes. Tyler Crych also played a strong game for Elk Rapids.
Jason Send had three goals to lead TC Christian (13-6) to the win over East Jordan. James Heersema, Taehoon Kim and Jonathan Wheatley also had goals for the Sabres.
Peter Mustard and McKenzie Domine had two assists and Send one for TC Christian. Jonathan Rudolph and David Voorhies split time in net.
Josua Force had the East Jordan goal.

Boyne City defeated Buckley 3-2 in double overtime.
Jeff Dreves and Jacob Youker tallied for Buckley (3-11). Mark Fortelka and Michael Loveland drew assists.

Forest Area 0
Suttons Bay opened the Division 4 district at Glen Lake with a 6-0 win over Forest Area Tuesday.
The fifth-ranked Norse (17-2-1) will play the winner of today's Glen Lake vs. Leland match for the district title Friday at 4:30 p.m.
In Tuesday's win, Shane McDonald had three goals while Jason McKisson had two goals and three assists. Markus Wolf also added a goal while Evan Glowicki, Justin Dalzell and Clayton Queen had assists.
Mack Jones made three saves in net for Suttons Bay to earn the shutout.

Glen Lake 0
Hannah Bach and Sam Zubalik each had 11 kills as Kingsley won the regular season Northwest Conference title with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-14 victory over Glen Lake.
Bach added four blocks and was 13 for 13 serving with four aces while Zubalik was 7 for 7 for the Stags, who will be the top seed for the league tournament Oct. 25 at Mesick.
Mary Kaleita was 14 for 14 serving with 23 assists for Kingsley (35-3-1, 7-0 NWC). Also contributing were Chelsea Edgcombe (seven kills, three aces, seven digs), Hilary Hoeflin (nine digs, 13 for 13, two aces) and Katie Nickerson (seven digs, 10 for 10).
Dani Frost had 11 kills, nine digs and two aces for Glen Lake (3-25-4, 2-5). Krissy Bush contributed eight kills and six digs and Casey Hawkins three kills, three digs, one block and 26 assists.

Suttons Bay went 6-1 in Northwest Conference matches after topping Leland 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 25-16.
Maggie Walters was 13 for 14 serving with four aces, 24 kills, four blocks and 20 digs for the Norse (24-14-5).
Crystal Dittrich was 20 for 20 serving with three aces and 10 digs while Hildi Forton was 10 for 10 with 26 assists and seven digs. Also key for Suttons Bay were Caleigh Lennerth (18 for 21 with five aces, nine digs), Emily Send (eight kills) and Kelli Ruthkowski (17 for 17, four aces, seven digs).
Sarah Ruszel had 12 kills and two aces and Rhiannon Hildenbrandt six kills and 11 digs for Leland (16-20-3, 4-3 NWC). Annalise Povolo added eight kills, Taylor Joliffe six kills, Molly Harrison 28 assists, seven digs and two kills, Haley VerSnyder six digs and Claudia Toro five digs and three aces.

Mesick evened its overall record at 7-7-2 with a 25-12, 25-10, 25-12 win over Buckley.
Jenna Maksymowski had eight aces, seven kills and eight assists for Mesick (3-4 Northwest).
Trisha Stagg added 12 assists and two aces and Nicole Hindman nine aces and six kills. Shelby Mack and Nikki Rekart each had four kills for the Bulldogs.

Benzie Central earned a 25-18, 25-18, 26-24 win on the road against Frankfort in Northwest Conference action.
The Huskies (13-19-5, 4-3 NWC) were led by Sara Thurkettle's 14 kills, four digs, a block and an ace. Jenna Scheele had five kills, three blocks and two aces while Kayley Moore added five kills and five digs. Kate Masell also had nine digs while Raenee Harig notched 23 assists.

It took five games, but Charlevoix stayed unbeaten in the Lake Michigan Conference with a marathon win over host Kalkaska.
The Rayders (39-13, 10-0) won 21-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-20, 15-7.
Tammy Potter led the way for Charlevoix with 30 kills, 16 digs and four blocks while Shauna Spencley had seven kills and five aces. Jenna Way had 30 assists and 21 digs while Taylor Storm notched 34 digs.
Kalkaska (5-3 LMC) had 22 assists and 12 digs from Megan Dunn. Abby Merrill had 14 kills, 15 digs and seven aces while Maria Harbour tallied 15 digs.
Elk Rapids splits pair of Lake Michigan matches
Elk Rapids beat Grayling (25-15, 25-17, 25-10) and lost to Boyne City (21-25, 25-12, 25-18, 25-23) in a pair of Lake Michigan Conference matches.
Olivia Morrison had six aces, two blocks, nine digs and 20 assists and Jessie Spoor eight aces, seven blocks and 15 digs for the Elks (4-14-7, 3-5 LMC). Kelly VanDeusen contributed three aces, six blocks and five kills and Sophy Chang four digs.

Forest Area wrapped up a perfect Ski Valley conference regular season Tuesday with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-14 win at Central Lake.
It was the first 8-0 league campaign for the Warriors (23-13-2), who will look to take the outright title in two weeks at the conference tournament.
In the first game, the Trojans led 22-15 before Mae Johnson served up 10 straight points for the win.
Johnson finished with 11 kills and 10 digs while Megan Monks had six blocks and three kills. Chelsea String had six aces and five kills, Allie Garrett and Katie Hodges each tallied nine assists and Lauren Kneer had nine digs.

Host Johannesburg-Lewiston earned a 25-17, 25-19, 25-11 Ski Valley Conference win over Mancelona Tuesday.
Sam Watkins had four kills and eight digs for the Ironmen (9-14-6) while Cari Lynn Huffman had nine digs and Stacey Kirkpatrick had three aces and eight digs.

Harbor Springs sweeps first places at LMC meet
Harbor Springs ran to first-place finishes in both the boys and girls races at the Lake Michigan Conference meet Tuesday in Petoskey.
In the boys meet, the Rams won with 31 points, followed by Elk Rapids with 51, Charlevoix with 62, Traverse City St. Francis with 85 and Boyne City with 142.
Tec Adams from Harbor Springs won in 15 minutes, 41.2 seconds while Jim Janisse (16:26) from Elk Rapids was second and Charlevoix's Alex Buday (16:38) was third.
James Alpers (17:42) was 10th for St. Francis while Alex Primeau (17:52) was 12th. Both earned LMC honorable mention honors.
The Rams won the girls meet with 31 points, followed by the Elks with 44, the Gladiators with 79, the Rayders with 103, the Ramblers with 134 and East Jordan with 177.
Elk Rapids had the top two runners with Amanda Hammer (19:23) and Laura Bailey (19:50). Maddie Buntin (20:13) from Harbor Springs was third.
TC St. Francis had a first-team runner in Morgan McCardel (20:32), who placed fourth. Katy Olsen (21:12) was an honorable mention by placing 11th.

TC Central sets records with tourney win
Traverse City Central won five flights Tuesday to take its own Twin Bay Invitational.
The Trojans won with 20 points, followed by Essexville-Garber with 13, Traverse City St. Francis with 10 and TC Central's B team with five points.
Originally, the tournament was a tune-up for regional play, but was postponed to Tuesday.
TC Central freshman Fisher Sutherland set the state record for wins in a season by taking the No. 2 flight with three straight-set wins. Sutherland moved to 36-5 on the year, passing former Trojan Brent Bak's record of 35.
Harry Malone and Spencer Powell also tied the state record for doubles wins. The No. 1 team moved to 40-1 to tie Andrew Hamilton and Thomas TenHoedt, who set the state mark in 1996 with the Trojans.
Jack Milliken and Ben Watts -- who already own the state record for career wins -- moved to 37-4 on the year with three straight-set wins.
TC Central also had flight winners at No. 3 doubles with Max Lundmark and Chris Heimburger, as well as the No. 4 team of Glover Kosch and Dan Spencer.
Essexville Garber, ranked No. 5 in Division 4, won No. 1, 3 and 4 singles.
