After losing the title last season, Kingsley won its own tournament for the sixth time in seven years.
The Lady Stags beat TC Christian 20-25, 25-16, 15-9 in the title match to improve to 15-2-1.
Kingsley beat Buckley (25-19, 25-13), Kalkaska (25-22, 25-8) and Elk Rapids (25-20, 25-19) in pool play. The Stags beat Rogers City (25-14, 25-10) and Benzie Central (25-11, 25-13) to reach the final.
Tournament MVP Mary Kaleita had 87 assists, 21 digs, four kills and was 49 for 50 serving. Also on the all-tournament team were Hannah Bach (35 kills, seven blocks, 45 for 46, nine aces) and Sam Zubalik (15 kills, 17 aces, 22 digs, two blocks).
Also contributing for Kingsley were Chelsea Edgcombe (24 kills, 22 for 23, four aces, 15 digs), Hilary Hoeflin (58 for 59, six aces, 24 digs), Katie Nickerson (25 for 26, four aces, 18 digs) and Lauren Leach (12 kills, six digs).
TC Christian beat McBain Northern Christian (25-23, 25-22), Rogers City (25-23, 25-11) and Benzie Central (26-24, 25-16) in pool play.
The Sabres (16-2) then topped Elk Rapids (25-12, 25-17) and Kalkaska (25-7, 25-22) in bracket play.
Making all-tournament from TC Christian were Lindsay Kostrzewa (46 kills, 11 blocks, 17 digs) and Kara Romstadt (85 assists, 15 digs). Joni Yahr added 26 kills and 10 digs while Jenna Finney was 26 for 27 serving with 25 digs and seven kills.
Benzie Central went 2-1 in pool play by beating Rogers City (25-18, 25-23) and McBain Northern Christian (25-19, 25-23). The Huskies (5-10-1) beat Buckley 26-28, 25-19, 15-8 in the quarterfinals.
All-tourney team selection Jenna Scheele had 13 kills, seven blocks, eight digs and six aces for Benzie. Sara Thurkettle added 19 kills, four blocks, 14 digs and four aces and Raenee Harig 34 assists, nine digs and was 25 for 26 serving with four aces.
Kalkaska's Meghan Dunn was the other player on the all-tournament team.
TC Central claims title at Leland Invitational
TC Central beat Charlevoix 25-18, 25-11 in the championship match of the Leland Invitational.
The Trojans (17-2) went undefeated to take the title.
Central beat Glen Lake (21-8, 21-9), Frankfort (21-8, 21-10) and Leland (21-12, 21-18) in pool play. The Trojans topped Northport (25-9, 25-15) in the quarterfinals and Leland (25-10, 25-14) in the semifinals.
Leading Central were Katherine Oetjens (15 digs, 13 aces), Laura Spencer (41 kills), Carly Beers (61 assists), Meredith Aja (12 kills), Kelly Kerr (17 kills) and Rachel Stieger (seven blocks).
Suttons Bay lost in the semifinals to Charlevoix. In pool play, the Norse beat Northport (21-12, 16-21, 15-12), lost to Cheboygan (15-21, 17-21) and Charlevoix (15-21, 21-15, 12-15). Suttons Bay beat Frankfort (19-25, 25-16, 15-8) in the quarters before falling to Charlevoix (12-25, 25-22, 13-15).
Pacing the Norse were Hildi Forton (57 of 58 serving with nine aces, 67 assists, five kills, 20 digs), Kyra Shively (14 kills, one block, five digs), Biri Luna (24 of 27 serving with five aces, 24 kills, 23 digs), Caleigh Lennerth (32 of 36 serving with two aces, 38 digs), Angela Patterson (40 of 42 serving with four aces, 17 kills, three blocks, 28 digs), and Hannah Olson (28 of 33 serving with four aces, 15 kills, 10 digs).
Glen Lake lost 25-8, 25-9 in the quarterfinals to Charlevoix. The Lakers (1-13) lost to Leland (21-9, 21-18), Frankfort (21-16, 21-16) and TC Central in pool play.
Leading the Lakers were Casey Hawkins (26 for 27 serving, 13 aces, 12 assists), Krissy Bush (four kills, 13 digs) and Dani Frost (four kills, nine digs, three blocks, three aces).
West powers to pair of wins at Portage Northern
Traverse City West won both of its power-pool matches at the Portage Northern Invitational before bowing out with a 25-18, 25-23 loss to Harper Creek in the quarterfinals of the silver bracket.
The Titans opened with splits against Vicksburg (25-23, 18-25) and Plainwell (25-21, 19-25) before beating Davison (25-15, 25-11) and Marshall (25-16, 25-13) in power pool.
Lydia Lovejoy had 15 aces, four kills, five blocks, 27 digs and 58 assists for West (4-6-2). Emily Ellison added 20 kills, 18 digs, five aces and five blocks, Gaby Muller 24 kills, 28 digs and 10 blocks, Ellen Patenaude 11 kills, 15 digs, three aces and four blocks and Tayler Rodes seven blocks.
Forest Area claims Manton Invitational
Forest Area won its first tournament in three years by beating McBain 21-25, 25-20, 15-8 in the finals at the Manton Invitational.
In pool play, the Warriors split with Big Rapids (27-25, 22-25), lost to McBain (23-25, 13-25) and beat Chippewa Hills (25-15, 31-29).
Forest Area topped Farwell in the quarterfinals (25-8, 25-11), Lake City in the semifinals (25-16, 25-16) and McBain in the finals.
The Warriors were led by Maize Johnson (38 kills, nine aces), Camala Tornow (28 digs), Molly Lockwood (28 digs, 76 of 77 serving with nine aces), Chelsea Strine (31 kills, 33 digs, 70 of 73 serving with 11 aces), Megan Monks (35 kills, six blocks), Ashley Czuk (11 kills), Katie Hodges (80 assists, 25 digs) and Lauren Kneer (26 digs).
Central Lake wins title at Mancelona
Central Lake captured the Mancelona Invitational.
Johannesburg-Lewiston finished second.
Mancelona split with Johannesburg (12-25, 25-9) and Bellaire (25-11, 22-25), beat Alba (25-15, 25-20) and lost to Central Lake (22-25, 13-25).
Mancelona was led by Maggie Shanahan (seven aces, nine digs, four kills), Lisa Luton (four aces, 16 kills, five digs) and Abbey Dewey (14 aces, five kills).
Bellaire closed out play a with a 25-18, 25-16 victory over Alba. The Eagles opened with splits against Mancelona (11-25, 25-22), Johannesburg-Lewiston (17-25, 25-24) and a loss to Central Lake (25-18, 25-9).
Leading Bellaire was senior co-captain Katie Fifleski. Lexie Tabor added four blocks, Dana Gugliotta eight aces and Montanna Bartsch 14 blocks and five aces.
