TRAVERSE CITY -- Trevor Osburn had a goal and an assist to lead TC Central to a 2-1 victory over Marquette.
Osburn's goal on an assist from Greg Merica came 10 minutes into the contest and equaled a goal by Dan Menze. Osburn assisted on A.J. Moehn's game-winning tally late in the first half.
The loss was Marquette's first of the season. The Redmen are 3-1.
Dane Macdonell made four saves in net for Central (2-1-1). Also playing well on defense for the Trojans were Michael Leigh, Like Grof and John Newland.
The Central JV played to a 2-2 tie with Marquette. Nick Wright and Ryan Keenan had goals for Central (0-2-1), with assists going to Nick Armour and Briggs Chapman.

Zach Hawkins scored twice on penalty kicks, including the game-winner halfway through overtime, as Glen Lake edged TC Christian, 3-2.
Zach Gordon had the other goal for the Lakers (6-0, 2-0 Northwest) on a cross from Like Wichtoski.
Ryan Black made 18 saves for Glen Lake.
TC Christian got goals from Jason Send on a penalty kick and from Jonathon Wheatley. Send assisted on Wheatley's score.

St. Francis third in Parchment Invitational
Will Elliott won No. 2 singles as Traverse City St. Francis placed third in the Parchment Invitational.
Elliott went 3-0, topping his Essexville-Garber foe 6-1, 6-3 in the finals.
Lowell won the eight-team tourney with 18 points, followed by Garber (16) and St. Francis (14).
Mack Hughes was third at No. 3 singles with a 2-1 mark, as was the No. 1 doubles pairing of Michael Elliott and Newton Calcutt.
The Gladiators' junior varsity topped Grayling's varsity 6-1.
Winners for St. Francis included Roger Belanger, Jamie Marsh, Colter Hornyak and Alex Quinlan in singles and Brendan Barnes/Alex Grombala and Mike Jenkins/Collin Alpers in doubles.
Tiffany Stump was Grayling's lone winner at No. 2 singles.
VOLLEYBALL
Pellston sweeps dual with Kingsley, Marion
Pellston doubled its win total in one night, beating host Kingsley (25-23, 12-25, 25-23, 25-17) and Marion (25-18, 25-20).
The Lady Stags beat Marion 25-11, 25-16 in the other match.
Katie Dzedzie led Pellston (4-1-3) with 21 kills and two blocks while Kara Pavlisin added 13 kills and 11 blocks. Emily Maglothlin chipped in with nine kills and three blocks while Rachel Hutto dished out 48 assists for the Hornets.
Hannah Bach had 18 kills, seven blocks and four aces and Sam Zubalik 14 kills and three aces for Kingsley (7-2-1). Mary Kaleita was 20 for 20 serving with three aces and 40 assists while Chelsea Edgecomb was 10 for 10 serving with five kills.
Kingsley returns to action on Sept. 3 when it hosts Leland for its Northwest Conference opener.

TC East freshmen 18
Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central scored twice in the fourth quarter to pull out a 22-18 victory over TC Central in a freshmen contest.
Joe Prokes scored on a 35-yard touchdown run and hit Kellen Winowiecki with scoring passes of 32 and 47 yards.
Boone Marois had an interception and Ben Buckel a fumble recovery for the Trojans. Other defensive standouts were Ryan Gemmell and Dylan Kelly.
