Tennis Roundup: Trojans stay perfect

SAGINAW -- Traverse City Central's tennis team has played three tournaments this fall, and taken home three trophies.

The Trojans added to the accomplishments Thursday by winning the Saginaw Heritage Invite.

Central scored 21 points for first while Grand Blanc was second with 19.

Doug Burke was the No. 1 singles winner after a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mt. Pleasant in the final match while teammate Fisher Sutherland took the No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Saginaw Heritage.

In doubles, the Trojans took three titles, including Harry Malone and Spencer Powell at No. 1, Jack Milliken and Ben Watts at No. 2 and Max Lundmark and Chris Heimburger at No. 3.

In the first dual of the season, the Titans JV squad picked up a non-conference victory Thursday over St. Francis.

West had singles wins from Lee Batcha, Graeme Placek, Ben Greenman and Jacob Diss. Doubles victories camefrom J.J. Choinard and Ryan Williamson, as well as Joe Caldwell and Jacob Templeton.

St. Francis took 5 and 6 singles with Sean Leonard and Kolter Hornyak while the teams of Paul Bandowski and Nathan Haggard, and Brendan Barnes and Alex Grambola also won.
