TRAVERSE CITY Down 3-0, Matt Vehner and Paul Hood drove in two runs each in the bottom of the sixth inning as Traverse City Central rallied to beat Midland Dow 4-3 on Wednesday.
Vehner had a two-run double and Hood a two-run single for the Trojans.
Jason Winowiecki went the seven-inning distance, allowing six hits. He struck out eight. Casey Lundy and Kevin Krantz had two hits apiece for the Trojans.
The second game was called because of rain.

Manton 1 2
Benzie Central used a big offensive night to sweep Manton, 12-1 and 12-2.
Josh Thaxton hit a two-run homer and Micah Parshall had three hits in the nightcap for Benzie Central (21-6-1). Sean Coykendall and Cory Baklarz each added two hits while Ryan Thompson added a two-run single.
Coykendall had two hits and two RBIs in the opener. Thaxton added a two-run double and Ryan Olson a two-run single.
Thaxton and Taylor Johnson each tossed one-hitters. Thaxton struck out five in game one while Johnson fanned three in the nightcap.
Elk Rapids 4
Boyne City 0
Elk Rapids shut out Boyne City 4-1 to improve its record to 11-2 in the Lake Michigan Conference.
Franki Price was winning goalie for Elk Rapids (13-3-2). Olivia Morrison had two goals and Kelyse McKeon and Cat Orschel one each.
Elk Rapids hosts Charlevoix today.

Helene Dryden scored the game's only goal on a crossing pass from Julie Doherty as the Traverse City Liberty defeated Harbor Springs 1-0 in a Lake Michigan Conference contest.
Laura Snyder posted the shutout in goal.
The Liberty (11-6, 10-3) play Grayling today.

Glen Lake 0
Melissa Mende's first half goal lifted the Traverse City Black JV to a 1-0 win over Glen Lake.
Megan Egbert assisted on the goal.
Elizabeth Reinke was in goal for the Trojans (9-7-2), Gina Gauthier for Glen Lake (10-6).
SOFTBALL

Adriane Kline pitched Benzie Central to a doubleheader sweep over Manton, 4-1 and 8-1.
In the opening game, Kline allowed four hits and struck out four. Leah Johnson had a double driving in two runs.
In the nightcap, Kline allowed five hits and struck out five. He also had a single and a double at the plate. Johnson drove in another run with a double. Ashley Parrotte added a single and a double in the win.
Benzie Central (11-17) will take on Elk Rapids next Wednesday.
Mesick 11
Brethren 7
Jenna Mahoney led Mesick to an 11-7 win over Brethren 11-7.
Ashley Wheeler was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs (17-10, 8-6), walking two and striking out three. Mahoney had two singles and a triple, driving in three of Mesick's runs. Nicole Hindman added three singles, Autumn Hutchings had a triple that drove in two while Raine Dinsmore had two singles and two RBIs.
The nightcap was rained out.
Mesick (17-10, 8-6) begins district play in Manton Tuesday.
