Track Roundup: Stags win Lake City Invite

Kingsley posted 1-2 finishes in the shot put and discus to help the Stags win the Lake City Invitational.

Kingsley finished with 176 points to win the eight-team meet. TC St. Francis was second with 116 followed by Coleman (99), Benzie Centra (97), Lake City (80) and Suttons Bay (511/2).

Kingsley's Jared Case won the shot put (43'10") and Warren Niewandomski the discus (127'6"). Niewandomski was second in the shot (43'41/2") while Ben Watson was runner-up in the discus (122'5").

The highlight for St. Francis was Jacob Schell, Dana Larsen, Adam Karpinski and Ben Swan setting a school record in the 800 relay (1:33.5). That broke the old mark of 1:33.8 set in 1967.

GIRLS TRACK

Benzie Central runs down first place at Lake City

Benzie Central was the only girls team to hit three figures, scoring 155 points to win the Lake City Invitational.

Lake City was second with 98 points, two ahead of Kingsley. TC St. Francis was seventh with 57 points.

Michaela Carnegie led Benzie Central with wins in the 400 (1:00.25) and 800 (2:25).
