Elmbrook to hold introduction, clinic
TRAVERSE CITY -- Elmbook Golf Course in Traverse City will hold a free introduction and trick shot clinic May 16 and 18 with golf professional Chuck Deedman.
Clinic times are at 5:30 p.m. on May 16 and 12:30 p.m. on May 18.
Deedman will provide tips and information on golf swings, as well as demonstrating some fun and challenging trick shots.
Peltonen to return to Tour de Leelanau
GRAND RAPIDS -- Bissell Pro Cycling announces its seven-man roster for the 2008 Tour de Leelanau, which includes the 2007 defending champion, Garrett Peltonen.
He and his teammates are fresh off recent victories at the Tour de Georgia and Tour of Gila.
Peltonen will be joined by Ben Jacques-Maynes, who claimed the second spot at the recent Tour of Gila Time Trial; Richard England, winner of the Tour of Georgia's Stage 5; and Teddy King, another winner in Georgia, taking the King of the Mountains jersey.
Jeremy Vennell, Graham Howard and Aaron Olson round out the roster that will try to tackle to the 109.5 mile, point-to-point course with more than 7,000 feet of climbing.
Representing the Bissell Women's Elite Team will be Amy Stauffer, Sarah Maguire, Leslie Gaines, Jamie Dinkins and Beth Skau.
Bums players to be featured at TC Prep
TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City College Preparatory Academy will host players from the Traverse City Beach Bums as part of an open house event on May 16.
The 6-8 p.m. event will be held at the academy, located at 1402 Carlisle Rd. Refreshments and free games and activities will be available to guests, who can meet the school's leader and staff and tour the facility.
Guests will be able to play ball with the players and can bring an item to be autographed. Autograph sheets will also be provided.
Traverse City College Preparatory Academy is a free public school academy. The academy is chartered by Bay Mills Community College and managed by The Leona Group.

Jordan's 3rd leads mountain bikers
AUGUSTA -- Local mountain biking team Pure Balance XC had another strong showing in Sunday's MMBA Fort Custer Stampede.
The team raced at the Fort Custer Recreation Area and State Park in Augusta.
Heather Jordan of Suttons Bay took third in Sport Women 30-29, Jack Kline of Lake Ann took sixth in Expert Men 50+ and Chad Jordan finished 15th in Expert Men 30-39.
The team's upcoming races include the Hanson Hills Challenge in Grayling on June 1 and the Lumberjack 100, an ultra-endurance 100-mile race held at the Big M in Manistee on June 14.
