Winning pitcher Kienan Sutton helped his own cause with two doubles and three RBIs Tuesday as Lake Leelanau St. Mary beat Traverse City Christian 15-3 in the opener of Cherryland Conference baseball doubleheader.
David O'Connor and Jake Plamondon each had two hits and two RBIs for the Eagles (10-4, 2-0).
St. Mary's won the nightcap 16-1 behind the pitching of Tyler Shaffran. Sutton had three hits in that game while Ryan Couturier contributed two hits and four RBIs. Dave and Matt Pasch chipped in two-run doubles.

Kalkaska pitchers limited Harbor Springs to six hits in a Lake Michigan Conference doubleheader sweep.
Travis Schuba struck out 12 in pitching a three-hit 4-1 opener, and Craig Miller fanned seven and also surrendered just three hits in the 9-0 nightcap.
Miller had four hits and two RBIs on the night.
Dan Tinkle was 2-for-2 with two RBIs in the nightcap, and Grayson Myas added a pair of hits and an RBI for the Blazers (8-9, 5-5 LMC).

Charlevoix 2 1
Josh Stapleton and Richie Schreiber drive in two runs each and Taylor Desenfants pitched a three-hitter as Grayling came back to earn a split with Charlevoix in Lake Michigan action.
Desenfants struck out four in the 10-1 nightcap win for Grayling (10-6, 7-3 LMC).
Charlevoix (11-7, 5-3 LMC) squeaked out a 2-1 win in the opener, scoring twice in the fourth inning. Jon Putman notched an RBI single and later came around to score the winning run.
Ty Telgenhof outdueled Schreiber. Telgenhof gave up a single in the first inning and didn't allow another the rest of the way.
Schreiber tossed a five-hitter, striking out six.
Suttons Bay 10 10
Buckley 3 3
Anthony Stewart slugged three home runs and drove in nine to lead Suttons Bay to a Northwest Conference sweep of Buckley by identical 10-3 scores.
Stewart had a grand slam, a two-run homer, a double, a single and scored three runs in game one for the Norse (10-7, 5-3 NWC). Danny Holmes and Kody Herman scored twice and Marty Glowicki had a double to support winning pitcher Adam Moritz, who scattered six hits and struck out five.
Stewart had a two-run homer among two hits in the nightcap.
Holmes was 4 for 4 with two doubles and three runs while Ryan Manning added two hits and three runs and Moritz a double. Glowicki struck out seven and allowed five hits to pick up the win.
Brent Bridgman had two hits in the first game and three in the second for Buckley (7-10-1, 1-6-1). Sam Porter had two hits, one of which was a double, in game one.

Frankfort improved to 6-2 in the Northwest Conference by sweeping Kingsley, 11-0 and 13-2.
Kyle Zimmerman struck out 12 in four innings and allowed two infield singles in game one for Frankfort (11-3). Zimmerman added a solo home run and a double, Wade Luxford (double) three hits and Cam MacArthur two.
Alex Stieve had four hits and Zimmerman two in the second game. Each had a double to back MacArthur, who allowed two hits and struck out five.
Seth Harrison and Parker Fitzsimons had RBI singles for Kingsley (2-11, 2-4).

Kevin Maddlena had three hits and Cody Wagatha a three-run double to lift Mesick to a 14-5 victory over Glen Lake in a Northwest Conference.
Winning pitcher Nick Pechota, Ben Peltier, Mark Fortelka and Kyle Runyan added two hits for Mesick.
KC Novak, Devin Weber and John Bunek had two hits while Novak drove in two runs for Glen Lake (9-7, 2-6 NWC).
Wagatha scattered six hits and struck out nine as Mesick won game one, 11-2. Joe Galla had two hits for Glen Lake.

Benzie Central improved to 7-0-1 in the Northwest Conference race with 11-0 and 20-1 wins over Leland.
Cory Baklarz earned the win in the opener, allowing one hit in his stint. Ryan Olson pitched three innings in relief, striking out six. Troy Weber led the attack with three hits. Mark Michalak belted a two-run homer. Baklarz contributed two hits. Josh Thaxton had a two-run double.
In the nightcap, Micah Parshall and Thaxton combined on the mound to shut down Leland. Thaxton hit a three-run homer in the game. Jake Moilanen and Matt Wichtner went 3-for-3 for the Huskies (11-4-1). Wichtner drove in three runs. Weber added two hits, including a two-run double.

Collin Casey and Ryan Patterson had two hits to lead TC Central to a 5-4 victory over TC West and a split of the JV baseball doubleheader.
Ryan Truschke was the winning pitcher in the nightcap for the Trojans (15-5).

Sarah Goudey drive in the winning run in one game and homered in the other as Traverse City West took two games from TC Central, 7-6 and 5-0.
Goudey's fielder's choice in the seventh inning scored Kirstin Robinson as the Titans edged Central 7-6 in the opening game.
Rachel Short's RBI triple in the sixth knotted up the contest.
Kate Colmus won, pitching four innings of one-hit ball in relief and Megan Montgomery added two hits and three RBIs for West (10-14, 3-5 Big North).
Dori Lansbach had three hits for the Trojans (5-17).
Goudey and Melissa Hubbard both hit home runs in the second inning of the nightcap, as Colmus won again. Hubbard had three hits.
Elle Bodnar delivered two base hits for Central, and Rachel Cook struck out 11 over the two games.
Central hosts Charlevoix on Thursday, while West travels to Kalkaska the same day.

Amanda Youker gave up just four hits in two games as Buckley swept a pair from Suttons Bay.
Youker tossed a one-hitter in the 1-0 opener, as Kaitlin Moyer's RBI triple brought in Lynn Davis for the game's only run.
Rebecca Reyhl had two hits for Suttons Bay in the opener.
Marie Mariani had a home run and two RBIs in the nightcap. Moyer and Davis were each 3-for-4 and Youker threw a three-hitter.

Amanda Worm struck out 19 batters as Kingsley remained undefeated in the Northwest Conference.
The Stags (12-4-1, 7-0-1 NWC) topped Frankfort 6-4 in the opener before the two teams deadlocked 9-9.
Worm struck out 12 and limited the Panthers to two hits in the opener and Chelsea Lajko had a double and two RBIs.
Kasey Boyle went 3-for-4 with a triple at the plate in the nightcap and Courtney Stocking scored three runs.
Frankfort (8-3-1, 6-1-1) was limited to three hits in the opener, two by Bree Beyette.
In the nightcap, Laney Eubank and Beyette each had three hits. Allison Webber pitched for the Panthers.

Marissa Taylor and Jen Spann limited Harbor Springs to just seven hits as Kalkaska swept the Rams 14-1 and 10-0.
Taylor gave up four hits, but had two of her own, in the opener. She struck out 12. Bernadette Gillespie, Kara Ponstein, Kristi Peters and Maria Harbour each drove in two runs.
Spann fanned five and hurled a three-hitter in the nightcap. Gillespie had an RBI triple and Katie Jones and Abby Merrill drove in runs for the Blazers (18-3, 9-1 Lake Michigan).

Kahler had plenty of help.
In the opener, Amanda Lautner, Lauren O'Brien, Katie Drzewiecki and Haley Sobzcak all had two hits. Kahler and Kristen Pleva each drove in two runs.
In the nightcap, Pleva, O'Brien and Drzewiecki collected two hits. One of Drzewiecki's hits was a bases-loaded triple. Hannah Therrien added two RBIs.
For Mesick, Nicole Hindman and Jenna Mahoney pounded out two hits.

Ellen Patenaude drove in three runs in game one and homered in the second as the Traverse City West JV took a pair of games from TC Central, 12-2 and 11-5.
Patenause had three RBIs in the opener in support of winning pitcher Lauren Bilinski and hit a home run in the second to help Emily Crawford win the second.
Jennifer Campbell added three hits in the nightcap for West (15-3).
For the Central JV, Meredith Aja had two hits in the opener.
