April 25, 2008 10:31 am TRAVERSE CITY Melissa Hubbard and Audra Norris filled the stat sheet as Traverse City West topped Charlevoix 9-2 in the opening game of a doubleheader split Thursday. Hubbard belted three extra-base hits a double and two triples and scored four runs, while Norris had a double and triple among her three hits and drove in three runs. Jen Hill and Heather Goudey added two hits each for the Titans and Kate Colmus was the winning pitcher, fanning five. Hannah Hybl was the winner for Charlevoix as the Rayders won the nightcap 4-3. Desi Faust and Amber Hoffman had two hits each. Kirstin Robinson had two hits for TC West, a double and a triple. The Titans (5-7) travel to the Oiler Invitational on Saturday in Mount Pleasant. MORE SOFTBALL Alpena 5 8 Rachel Gebauer pitched a no-hitter as Alpena beat Traverse City Central 9-0 in the first of two games. Gebauer struck out nine. She also earned the win in the nightcap as Alpena posted an 8-2 win. Dori Lansbach had two hits for the Trojans (5-8, 0-4). Central competes in a tournament in Mount Pleasant on Saturday. Bellaire 11 14 Logan Edgecomb registered a pair of wins on the mound as Bellaire swept Ski Valley rival Johannesburg-Lewiston 11-3 and 14-3. Edgecomb struck out 12 in the opener. She also drove in a run. Montana Bartsch added two hits and drove in a run. In the nightcap, Edgecomb helped her own cause with four hits and four RBIs. Amber Marshall doubled and drove in two runs while Bartsch collected two hits and an RBI for the Eagles (12-1, 7-1). Mary Walsh also drove in a run with a hit. Mancelona 5 4 Brooke Orman pitched Mancelona to 5-4 and 4-0 wins over Central Lake in Ski Valley play. Orman pitched a five-hitter in the opener. Sam Watkins had an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Mancelona (6-3, 6-2). Watkins finished with two hits. Orman hurled a shutout in the nightcap, striking out four. Maggie Shanahan led the attack with two triples, two RBIs and two runs scored. Watkins added two hits and drove in a run. Mesick 10 14 Mesick improved to 8-1 with 10-4 and 14-1 wins over McBain. Courtney Clough earned the wins in both games. She gave up three hits in the opener, one hit in the nightcap. Jenna Mahoney pounded out four hits while Ashley Wheeler, Autumn Hutchings, Summer Kearns and Raine Dinsmore had three each. Nicole Hindman collected two hits and drove in four runs. Hutchings had two more hits in the nightcap while Clough drove in two. Kingsley 3 9 Amanda Worm spun a one-hitter and struck out eight in the opener as Kingsley split a twinbill with Pine River. Worm didn't walk a batter in the 3-2 win. Alexa Bach socked a two-run double and Amanda Ocobock had an RBI single for the Stags. Chelsea Lajko, Hillary Hoeflin and Kasey Boyle scored two runs apiece in the 14-9 nightcap loss. Kingsley (7-2, 4-0 Northwest) travels to the Boyne City Invitational on Saturday, along with Gaylord, Glen Lake, Whittemore-Prescott, Clinton and the host Ramblers. TC West JV 17 15 The TC West JV improved to 10-1 by sweeping Charlevoix, 17-2 and 15-0. Lauren Bilinski was the winning pitcher in the opener while Emily Crawford won the nightcap. TC St. Francis JV 16 11 Forty-six runners crossed the plate in a slugfest between the Traverse City St. Francis JV and the TC East freshmen. St. Francis swept the twinbill 16-9 and 11-10. Emily Walters had six hits in the doubleheader and earned the win in both. Walters had three hits in the 16-9 opener, driving in three runs with a double and triple. Shelby Smith contributed two hits a double and a triple and three RBIs for the Glads (4-4). C.J. Zamarron added two hits and two RBIs and Caitlin Coates and Charli Bradley had two hits each. Stephanie Grace paced the Trojans with a 3-for-4 night and two RBIs, while Katie Madison was 3-for-4 with one RBI. Walters added three more hits and three RBIs in the 11-10 seven-inning nightcap. Grace Hall had three hits and Smith, Carly Madison and Zamarron had two hits apiece. Zeena Saco had a 4-for-4 night for TC East in the nightcap with three RBIs, whiel Katie Madison was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Mallory Weaver was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. TC West Frosh 10 18 Becky Meyer and Jennifer Kennedy stifled Petoskey as the Traverse City West freshmen beat Petoskey 10-1 and 18-0. Meyer was the winning pitcher in game one. Katie Doornbos and Shelby Newhouse led the attack with two hits. Kennedy struck out seven in the nightcap. Laurie Cizek and Katie Kaminski had three hits apiece for the Titans (6-0).
