ACME — An all-you-can-eat chili supper on Saturday, Nov. 9, will support the restoration of the Yuba School.

The meal will be served from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Acme Masonic Lodge. Chicken noodle soup also will be served and take-outs will be available. There also will be a bake sale and silent auction.

The meal is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and younger. For advance tickets, call 264-8038. Tickets also may be purchased at the door.

Nurses meet

TRAVERSE CITY — ANA-MI, American Nurses Association in Michigan, formerly RN-AIM, will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The meeting will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave., in rooms A and B, with REMEC connections to Grayling Hospital and Kirtland Community College. Registered Dietitian Heather Campbell from Shoreline Center for Healing will discuss “A Nursing Challenge: Providing Health Care to Peace Corps Volunteers.” A $5 donation for pizza and salad is requested and registration is required. Turkey Trot

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Turkey Trot is participating in the Guinness Gobbler Challenge.

The Thanksgiving Day event will give runners a chance to help runners across the United States try to set a record for the most runners competing at the same time. The downtown Traverse City Turkey Trot for Charities features a 5K run/walk and a Five-Mile Flier Race starting and ending at Thirlby Field on 13th Street. Races start at 9 a.m.

Registration is $35 for adults and $15 for students until Tuesday, Nov. 5, and $40 for adults and $20 for students after that date and on race day. Packet pick-up is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Thirlby Field, with “LEAP Under the Lights” family activities from 5-7 p.m. Canned good donations will be accepted for the St. Francis Church food pantry and dog food and pet supplies will be accepted for HANDSS (Helping Abused Neglected Disabled and Displaced Souls). TRAVERSE CITY — Munson Home Health offers a medical alert system that provides immediate response 24 hours a day.

Medical alert devices, such as those provided by Munson Home Health, include models that can be worn around the neck or on the wrist. The user pushes a button and there is hands-free, two-way communication with a professional call center adviser seconds after the button is pushed.
