Cancer survivor picnic
TRAVERSE CITY — Reservations are needed by Thursday, May 23, for the National Cancer Survivors’ Day celebration picnic.
Anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer and their families are invited to a light lunch, dessert and soft drinks from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, on the front lawn of Building 50 at the Grand Traverse Commons. There also will be family entertainment, music, survivors’ gifts and door prizes.

Memorial Day meal
KINGSLEY — The Kingsley United Methodist Church will host its annual Memorial Day Dinner on Monday, May 27.

TRAVERSE CITY — Colorado neurologist and movement disorder specialist Dr. Monique Giroux will be the guest speaker at the Parkinson’s Summer Forum on Thursday, June 6.
The forum will open with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the Hagerty Center, 715 E. Front St. Welcome and recognitions at 9:10 a.m. will be followed by Dr. Giroux’s program.

TRAVERSE CITY — The “RSVP Lead with Experience” program sponsored by the Volunteer Center at the United Way of Northwest Michigan will expand into Leelanau County with its KISS (Keeping Independent Seniors Safe) initiative.
The free telephone reassurance program offers adults 60 and older a chance to stay in their own homes while alleviating some of the fear and isolation.
