Fall Trunk Show

Traverse City — A portion of proceeds from Grand Traverse Ophthalmology Clinic's Fall Trunk Show on Thursday, Oct. 25, will go to charity. Donations of non-perishable food items for the Father Fred Foundation also will be accepted.

Legends finale

Traverse City — The Grand Finale of the Fall 2012 Legends activities will be on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Festivities include free programs at 2 and 7 p.m., at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St., by Dr. Elizabeth Faue, professor of American History and Women's History at Wayne State University. The programs complement the stories of fall 2012 Legends honorees Dr. Elizabeth Rosenthal-Thompson, the first female physician in northern Michigan (1886), and Emelia Schaub, the first female practicing prosecuting attorney in Michigan (1936).

Hoops fundraiser

Traverse City — A Safe Kids North Shore basketball fundraiser will spotlight local stars and the Harlem Ambassadors traveling professional squad.

The professional basketball squad will visit Traverse City at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, to challenge a team of local celebrities at Traverse City Central High School, 1150 Milliken Dr. Proceeds benefit Safe Kids North Shore injury prevention efforts.

Guatemala Fiesta

Traverse City — Great Lakes Friends will host its seventh annual Fiesta to benefit children of families living at the Guatemala City garbage dump.

The fundraiser will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Children's House, 5363 N. Long Lake Road. Advance reservations are $35 for adults, $10 for children 11 and younger, $20 for students and $240 for a table for eight until Monday, Oct. 22.
