Prep Sports Roundup: Frankfort rallies to edge Kingsley

FRANKFORT — Frankfort, down six at half, battled back to beat Kingsley 54-48 in a Northwest Conference girls basketball showdown Friday night.

Mackenna Kelly led the Panthers (9-0, 5-0) with 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Freshman Cecelia Schmitt added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Kingsley took a 24-18 lead at the break behind 13 from Autumn Goggin. Kingsley hit four 3-pointers in the half. Goggin finished with 25 points.

Frankfort plays Plymouth Educational on Monday in a showcase tournament in Detroit.

Leland 58

Buckley 47

Libby Munoz scored 11 points in overtime as Leland defeated Buckley 58-47 in Northwest Conference play.

The game was tied at 45 after regulation after Buckley was down six in the fourth quarter.

Munoz finished with 33 points and Caitlin McKee 16 for the Comets (6-4). Hannah Kastenschmidt scored 13 points and Marlee Harris and Jordyn Barley 12 for Buckley.

Suttons Bay 47

Mesick 27

Jane Hursey had 13 points and six rebounds while Delaney Kaufman added 11 points, 11 rebounds and six steals in Suttons Bay’s 47-27 Northwest Conference win over Mesick.

Caylee Pattison pulled down nine rebounds for the Norse (5-5, 3-3), who host Elk Rapids on Monday.

Abby Trowbridge paced Mesick with 10 points.


Kalkaska 57

East Jordan 47

Taylor Kibby led a balanced attack with 21 points as Kalkaska posted a 57-47 Lake Michigan Conference win over East Jordan.

The Blazers (7-2, 4-1) led 42-26 after three quarters.

Taylor Birgy and Micah Lajewski added 10 points and Reyann Homan eight for Kalkaska, which faces Boyne City on Tuesday. Birgy also had six rebounds and five steals while Homan contributed six rebounds and three assists.

Lindsay Schroeder finished with 16 points for East Jordan.


Charlevoix 52

Grayling 49

Madeline Boss had 22 points, 14 rebounds and five steals to power Charlevoix to a 52-49 Lake Michigan Conference win over Grayling.

Kelsey Ingstrom and Gabby Gray each added eight points and three steals for the Rayders (4-3, 3-2), who travel to St. Francis on Monday. Makayla Cragge netted 12 points for Grayling.

Bellaire 46

Onaway 31

Bellaire improved to 6-1 in the Ski Valley with a 46-31 victory over Onaway.
