TRAVERSE CITY — Old Mission Congregational Church’s next summer picnic will feature burgers and bratwurst served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the church, 18687 Mission Road.
There is no charge, but donations are appreciated. The final picnic of the season will be hosted Wednesday, Sept. 11. For details, call Penny Paulley, 223-4844.
Stroke Club picnic
TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Bay Area Stroke Club will celebrate summer with their annual picnic on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
The get-together will be hosted from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. by the Piazza at the Grand Traverse Commons. Members are invited to bring a dish to pass and Bocce ball will be available. BEAR LAKE — Pastor Duane Vanderklok will give an inspirational message on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Bear Lake Christian Church.
Vanderklok is pastor of Resurrection Life Church in Grandville and host of the “Walking by Faith” weekly television outreach program. His program will start at 6 p.m. at the church along M-72. The public is welcome.
TRAVERSE CITY — A new aquatic class for individuals with Parkinson’s disease begins Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
The noon class will take place in the Wellness Center’s therapy pool. It will focus on breathing, balance and smooth body movements. The cost is $50 for a five-week session.

BENZONIA — Grow Benzie will sponsor a Wellness Dinner with nutritional therapist-in-training Abby Beale and Ann Sinclair of CulinaryRx.
The meal will be hosted from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Grow Benzie Kitchen, 5885 M-115. The cost is $15 per person and reservations are required. For reservations, call 352-7463. Payment will be accepted at the door.
TRAVERSE CITY — The Village at Bay Ridge will offer the 10-week Apprentice Series.
The study course is based on James Bryan Smith’s book “The Good and Beautiful God.” It will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays starting in September at Bay Ridge West, 3950 Scenic Ridge. Registration is required by Thursday, Aug. 15, call 932-9455.
MESICK — Cornell Community Church will hold a rummage/bake sale to raise money for the roof fund.

TRAVERSE CITY — Project Unity for Life will host its Second Chance Challenge Golf Fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Elmbrook Golf Course, 1750 Townline Road.
The four-man, best-ball event starts at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $50 per player or $200 per foursome. Lunch is included and prizes and trophies will be awarded.
