Gamblers support

TRAVERSE CITY — Gamblers Anonymous meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1050 Peninsula Dr. The next meeting is Aug. 5.

Railroad history

TRAVERSE CITY — Railroad Historical Society of Northwest Michigan member Dave Miller will present the DVD “New York Central’s Michigan Area Lines: 1950-1955 Secondary and Main Lines” at the 7 p.m. meeting of the society on Tuesday at the History Center of Traverse City, 322 Sixth St. The public is welcome.

Thrift Shop sale

TRAVERSE CITY — The annual summer sale is under way at the First Congregational Church Thrift Shop.

Everything is half-off through Aug. 15. The shop is located at 207 E. Eighth St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For details, call 946-6620.

Smart 911

TRAVERSE CITY — Jamel Anderson, director of Grand Traverse County 911, will share information on how to sign up for Smart 911 on Tuesday at the Village at Bay Ridge, 3850 Scenic Ridge.

The informational seminar will be presented at 11:30 a.m. in the East Building and at 1 p.m. in the West Building. The public is invited. Call 932-9455 to learn more.

Lunch & Learn

TRAVERSE CITY — Head of School Rob Hansen and Admissions Director Caroline Maier will discuss what makes The Pathfinder School different educationally at the final Lunch & Learn program in the summer series.

The free program will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the school, 11930 S. West Bay Shore Dr. Lunch will be provided.The session is geared toward adults, but children are welcome to attend with adults present. For details, visit

Huntington’s walk

TRAVERSE CITY — The community is invited to join the Team Hope Walk for HD, the Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s signature walk.

Huntington’s Disease is a hereditary, degenerative brain disorder that results in a loss of cognitive, behavioral and physical control. Presently there is no treatment or cure.
