The 5K course on Aug. 17 will take runners and walkers around the hilly terrain of trails near the Grand Traverse Commons. A Kids’ Fun Run also is planned.

Dubbed “Lauren and Theresa’s Run,” the fundraiser was started by the O’Connor and Frechette families who lost babies during childbirth. They identified Munson’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as the beneficiary of the race, with hopes that more babies will survive difficult births. The 2012 race raised more than $11,000.
