TRAVERSE CITY — The fifth annual Save A Smile toothbrush donation drive starts Sunday and continues through September.
The drive benefits patients and families served by the Traverse Health Clinic. Donations of child and adult toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss will be accepted at all Tom’s Food Market locations, all Northwestern Bank locations in the Traverse City area, at Traverse Dental Associates and at the Traverse Health Clinic.
Monetary gifts also are appreciated and will help provide oral hygiene services. They may be made at www.traversehealthclinic.org, or checks may be mailed to Traverse Health Clinic, 3155 Logan Valley Rd., Traverse City, MI 49684. Donors should include “Dental” on the memo line.
Coast Guard saluted
TRAVERSE CITY — The History Center of Traverse City will close its “Building Blocks of America” Lego exhibit on Labor Day, Sept. 2, and a Lego Coast Guard helicopter created by Dan Parker, a Lego professional artist, will introduce a new exhibit titled “Guardians of the Lakes.”
The U.S. Coast Guard exhibit will be on display through Labor Day 2014. It features an overview of Coast Guard history, local Coast Guard history, video clips, vintage photos, models, uniforms and interactive activities for children.

Fun Fair for Hospice
TRAVERSE CITY — The Village at Bay Ridge will host a Fall Fun Fair benefit to support Hospice of Michigan.
The event will be hosted from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, rain or shine, at the Village at Bay Ridge, 3850 Scenic Ridge. Hot dogs, Moomer’s Ice Cream, lemonade, cherry pie and more will be served for a minimum $5 donation. There also will be music by Dominic Fortuna and a silent auction. For details, call 995-9385.
