Relay for Life kickoff

KALKASKA — The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Kalkaska County will hold a kick-off event during the National Trout Festival, Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28.

Lyme disease support

TRAVERSE CITY — The Michigan Lyme Disease Association support group will meet Tuesday, April 30.

Diaper drive

TRAVERSE CITY — A "Month of the Young Child" diaper drive continues through April.

Donations of disposable diapers may be dropped off in Traverse City at St. Francis Catholic Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Tom's West Bay, Acme, Munson Avenue and 14th Street markets; Oleson's Food Stores on Long Lake and Hammond roads, Family Fare Market on East Eighth Street and The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City on Westminster. Large sizes (4, 5 and 6) are especially needed.

Diapers will be distributed by the Grand Traverse Baby Pantry. Cash donations also are welcome and can be mailed to the GT Baby Pantry, 507 W. Eighth St., Traverse City, MI 49684. For details, call Sally Hanley, 941-0655.

'Stepping Up' for men

ELLSWORTH — Good Samaritan Family Services and area churches are sponsoring a "Stepping Up" video event for men, designed to provide participants with a game plan for living a godly, courageous life.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at the Ellsworth Town Hall. The registration deadline is Wednesday, May 1. The $10 cost per person includes materials, lunch and a chance to win door prizes. Some partial and full scholarships are available.
