Mystery author

northport — Aaron Stander of Interlochen, author of six northern Michigan murder mystery novels, will be on hand from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at Dog Ears Books as part of Shop Local Day.

Stander will be signing copies of his latest book, "The Cruelest Month." Dog Ears Books is located at 106 Waukazoo St.

Writers workshop

traverse city — Michigan Writers welcomes Mardi Link, who will present a workshop entitled, "Kickstarter For Writers: How to Make Crowdfunding Work For You."

The workshop will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, at the University Center on Cass Road, Room 214. The workshop is free and registration is not necessary.

Mardi Link is the author of "When Evil Came to Good Hart" and "Isadore's Secret," winner of a Michigan Notable Book Award.

Fitzgerald book

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Author Michael Schumacher tells the story of the doomed ore carrier Edmund Fitzgerald in his new book, "Mighty Fitz."

The book provides a comprehensive look at the legendary shipwreck of the ore carrier, which sank off Whitefish Point on Lake Superior in 1975.

"Mighty Fitz" is published by the University of Minnesota Press. For more information, visit
