Prep Sports Roundup: Elk Rapids upends Kingsley in soccer

ELK RAPIDS — Carley Patterson netted two goals as Elk Rapids beat Kingsley 4-1 in a non-league soccer game.

Nicole Holl and Mary Kate Klein also tallied for the Elks (9-3), who travel to Charlevoix on Monday.

Ally Kintner scored for Kingsley.

Paige Granger had four saves in goal for Elk Rapids.

Despite a four-hit effort by Wes Talbot, Grand Rapids West Catholic earned a 4-3 non-conference victory over Traverse City West.

Talbot gave up only four hits in 6.1 innings, striking out four.

Offensively, Keegan Kenny had two hits, a double and an RBI, Nick Brzezinski added two hits, two runs and an RBI, Jeff Turnquist notched two hits and Max Ludka doubled.

The Titans (13-5-1) travel back to Grand Rapids to play East Grand Rapids and Tri-County for single games.


Leland 8

Northport 0

Leland shut out Northport 8-0.

The Comets held a 20-2 advantage in shots as Jessica Fleis and Miranda Harrison shared goaltending duties.

Leland’s scoring came from Libby Munoz (two goals, one assist), Lydia Gulow (one goal, one assist), Delaney Drake (two goals), Whitney Schaub (one goal, one assist), Heather burns (goal), Mariela Corona (goal) and Noa Yaakoby (assist).

The Comets (13-2-2) host Benzie Central on Monday.


TC Thunder 8

TC Crusaders 0

Brett Spanski and John Leaman scored two goals apiece as TC Thunder beat the TC Crusaders 8-0.

Chris Chang, Jack Brewer, Ted Okserstrom and Yani Beeker also tallied for the Thunder (8-0), who play the TC Bayhawks on Wednesday at the new YMCA field.

Chang added three assists. Mitch Wynkoop had seven saves in goal.
