TC Blue Stars teams win G.R. tourney

GRAND RAPIDS — Five teams from the Traverse City Blue Stars baseball club participated in the River City Shootout in Grand Rapids. The Blue Stars 9U and 14U teams both won their age divisions, while the 13U team was knocked out in the semifinal game in their division.

Joe Muzljakovich (14U) and Josh Klug (9U) both threw no-hitters in their respective championship games.

The 13U Blue Stars will be hosting the second annual Blue Star Classic May 17-18 at the Civic Center.

Blues host three games today

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Bay Blues Rugby Club will be hosting its annual Blues Rugby Day today at the Civic Center.

Play kicks off with the high school girls team (4-0) facing Lakeview at 12:30, the boys team (1-3) taking on Kalamazoo at 2 and the men (3-0) challenging the Grand Rapids Gazelles at 3:30.

TC Central physicals set for Aug. 2

TRAVERSE CITY — Physicals for potential Traverse City Central athletes will be held at East Middle School on Aug. 2 from 8-11 a.m.

The cost is $20 and an adult must sign a physical form for the student.

Students need a physical dated after April 15, 2014 to participate in athletics for the next school year.
