Nurses week celebration

Northwestern Michigan College nursing alumni and the American Nurses Association-Michigan are hosting a dinner and program Thursday in celebration of national Nurses Week.

The event at First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road, in Traverse City kicks off with a wine and cheese reception at 5 p.m. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. A program honoring more than 50 years of nursing at NMC will follow at 7 p.m.

Current NMC nursing students will give a presentation about a recent trip to South Africa in conjunction with NMC aviation students. Kathleen McManus, a registered nurse and former chief operating officer at Munson Medial Center, is the keynote speaker.

The cost is $10 for dinner and $10 to sponsor a student.
