Distillery hosts benefit

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Distillery, 781 Industrial Circle, suite 5, will host a benefit for friend and co-worker Chris Ross, who underwent emergency open heart surgery and faces a long recovery period and mounting medical bills.

“Stillsville One” will be hosted from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 7. It includes Grand Traverse Distillery-made cocktails, tours, tastings, the Pigs Eatin’ Ribs food truck, live music by the Younce Guitar Duo and a silent auction. Men’s sale

TRAVERSE CITY — The Central United Methodist Church Men’s Parking Lot Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the church parking lot, 222 Cass St. For details or to volunteer to help, call Harvey Norris, 947-1032.

Smart 911 program

TRAVERSE CITY — Jamel Anderson, director of Grand Traverse County 911, will give a presentation and demonstrate how to sign up for Smart 911.

The program starts at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Senior Center Network, 801 E. Front St. Grand Traverse County is one of the first counties in Michigan to initiate this free, potentially life-saving service. Participants are encouraged to bring in laptops or tablets and sign up for the program. Instructions will be provided for residents to sign up using their home computers or participants also may use the Senior Center computer lab to sign up.

Journaling workshop

THOMPSONVILLE — Leslie Hamp will lead “Journaling for Health and Vitality” sessions at Crystal Mountain Resort.

Hamp specializes in helping women and entrepreneurs reach personal and professional goals. In the three unique 90-minute programs, she will help participants clear energy-draining clutter and develop a whole-life vision to inspire them to set and reach goals every day.

Sessions will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday and Saturday, June 13 and 15, and at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. Guests can sign up for individual workshops or the series. Each session is $79 and includes a journal, access to Crystal Spa, lunch at Thistle Pub & Grille and a guided tour of Michigan Legacy Art Park.
