Try belly dancing

TRAVERSE CITY — Crystal Bindi Studio will offer a free introductory belly dancing class today, July 20, at K.J. Charters Traverse City State Park through the park's Recreation 101 program.

The class will be held on the beach at 7 p.m. The award-winning Jewel Jigglers then will perform from 8:15 to 9 p.m. A Recreation Passport is required for state park admission. For details, visit www.michigan.gov/rec101.

Manitou music

GLEN ARBOR — The Manitou Music Festival will welcome THUMMp, an a cappella quintet from Detroit, to the top of the Homestead's Bay Mountain for a concert on Thursday, July 25.

Ticket holders can view and bid on silent auction items offered by the Glen Arbor Art Association and take a chair lift or golf cart ride to the top of the mountain starting at 6 p.m. The performance starts at 7 p.m. Chairs will be provided and refreshments will be available to purchase. In case of rain, the concert will be at the Homestead's Mountain Flower Meeting Center.

The church and immigration

TRAVERSE CITY — Christ United Methodist Church will host an informational program on Justice for Our Neighbors, a program that provides legal services to low-income immigrants, community education and advocacy.

The conversation about immigration and the church starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at the church, 1249 Three Mile Road. A short video titled "Jasmine's Story" will be shown followed by a question and answer period. For details, call the church, 946-3048.

Bible school

MANCELONA — Antrim Church of Christ will hold Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday, July 29-Aug. 2, for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

The theme is "Athens: Paul's Dangerous Journey to Share the Truth," and focuses on the Apostle Paul's second missionary journey. Classes will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the church, 10228 S. U.S. 131. A family picnic will follow the closing program on Friday, Aug. 2. For details, call 587-0396.
