National Cherry Festival schedule for July 5

Today’s Schedule

7:30 a.m. The Sarah Hardy Downtown Farmer’s Market is relocated to the Old Town Parking Deck at 125 E. 8th Street during festival week.

8 a.m. Cherry Pancake Breakfast: Join the Cherry Festival Foundation and the amazing Chris Cakes for pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and juice at the Festival Open Space at Grandview and Parkway.

9 a.m. Teen Disc Golf: Disc golf, food and prizes with awards ceremony to follow at Hickory Hills. $10, includes: disc golf, lunch, and rule book. Hickory Hills, 2000 Randolph St.

9 a.m. Traverse City History in the Movies: Learn about the history of Traverse City, including the National Cherry Festival and Con Foster. Admission is free, seating is limited. Bijou by the Bay, 181 E. Grandview Parkway

9 a.m. Kids’ Big Wheel Race: Ages 3 to 6, equipment will be available for out-of-town guests. No fee required. Grand Traverse Mall Parking Lot, near Pier One. 3200 S Airport Rd W.

9 a.m. Two-Person Volleyball Tournament: Today’s tournament features Men’s and Women’s play, with 18 teams per division. West End Park Beach Volleyball Courts on Grandview Parkway

10 a.m. Opening Ceremonies: The official opening of the 88th National Cherry Festival on the Cherry Blast Stage.

10 a.m. A Walk Through the National Cherry Festival Exhibit: Learn about the early years of the festival, explore 88 years of Cherry Royalty and revisit the beloved Miniature City once displayed in Clinch Park. Corner Loft, 201 E. Front St.

10 a.m. Kids Club: Free activities for children ages 2-12 include face painting, story time, coloring pages, a magnetic ball wall. Behind the Bijou Theater.

10 a.m. Kids Festival Matinee: Showing of Ernest & Celestine. Admission is free. A 2012 animated comedy-drama based on a series of children’s books by the same name. The State Theatre, 233 E Front St.
