To clarify a Friday entertainment story on smallpipes player Dick Hensold, Great Highland bagpipes can and should be tuned to themselves (each set is four instruments in itself) and to one another. They do not tune well with other instruments, such as fiddle, piano, tin whistle and brass instruments. Also, the Great Highland bagpipe is so loud that balancing it with other instruments is nearly impossible.
