Health Newsmakers: 06/22/2013

Crystal Flash Energy and Save-A-Lot sponsored a two-day American Red Cross blood drive recently at Temple Hill Church in Cadillac.

The drive resulted in 130 productive units and 11 double red donations. Donors who reached new gallon levels and received pins were: one gallon — Charles W. Fales; three gallons — Shelly A. Payne, Mesick; six gallons — Wayne G. Lowell, Cadillac; seven gallons — Marcia Agema, McBain, and Pollyanna Torres, Cadillac; eight gallons — Michael J. Mousse, Lake City, and Ronald D. Hamel, Cadillac; 10 gallons — Bruce Payne, Mesick; 13 gallons — Paula Schuster, Cadillac; 17 gallons — James Kenyon, Cadillac; 18 gallons — Joseph A. Benz, Harrietta; and 19 gallons — Doreen Hildner, Cadillac.

Dr. Michael Eldredge, MD, FAAP, from Kids Creek Children’s Clinic, Traverse City, was named the 2013 March of Dimes Honoree at the Traverse City March for Babies.

Dr. Eldredge has been working with Kids Creek Children’s Clinic since 1979. He is a medical staff member of Munson Medical Center and previously served as chief of the pediatric department. He was honored for his outstanding commitment to the good health of babies and children in the community.
