An evening of jazz

TRAVERSE CITY — The Bill Sears Quartet will present “An Evening of Jazz” tonight, March 2, at the Grand Traverse Circuit, 225 W. 14th St.

The quartet, featuring Sears, Kelly Sill, Joel Spencer and Mike Kocour, will perform from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $5 for Northwest Michigan Jazz Experience members; $15 for non-members. Tickets and memberships will be available at the door.

Dance social

TRAVERSE CITY — A dance social on Friday, March 8, will start with a lesson.

The lesson from 7:15 to 8 p.m. at the Dance Center, 225 E. 14th St., will be followed by open dancing from 8 to 10 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Pancake breakfast

TRAVERSE CITY — A pancake breakfast, sponsored by the St. Patrick Men’s Club, will benefit the Lake Ann Lion’s Club’s eye and eyeglass program.

The meal will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at St. Patrick Church, 630 W. Silver Lake Road. Prices are $5.50 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 5 and older, free for children 4 and younger and $20 per family. Additional donations are appreciated.

‘Yoga stops Traffick’

TRAVERSE CITY — Shanti School of Yoga invites the community to join them for the “Yoga stops Traffick” worldwide yoga experience to benefit human trafficking prevention group Odanadi.

The event starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Shanti School of Yoga, 2074 S. Airport Road, in Logan’s Landing. It will include an all-levels practice of 108 sun salutations. A $10 donation is suggested to help support Odanadi’s work in the field of prevention, rescue and rehabilitation.

Positive psychology

TRAVERSE CITY — The Unitarian Universalist Congregation Grand Traverse is offering a “Positive Psychology Class.”

The class will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, March 7 and 14, at the UU Congregation, 6726 Center Road. It will be led by Ann Marie Love, Ph.D., and is designed for people seeking to kickstart positive changes in their lives with only a small time commitment. The public is invited.
