Senior Health Fair

TRAVERSE CITY — The Village at Bay Ridge will host its sixth annual Senior Health Fair on Thursday, April 11.

More than 22 vendors will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to share tips for healthy living and many booths will be interactive. Admission is free and the public is invited. Lunch will be available to purchase.

Kampout for KAIR

KALKASKA — A campground will spring up in front of the Bill Marsh Kalkaska dealership in an effort to collect food for the Kalkaska Area Interfaith Resource (KAIR).

Kampout for KAIR will start at 5 p.m. Friday, April 12, and conclude at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 13. Boy Scouts will set up a campsite in front of the dealership and Northland Foods and Glen Markets will stay open around the clock for shoppers. Northland, Glens and Sav-A-Lot also will have people stationed at their fronts to accept donations.

Businesses, civic groups and individuals are encouraged to organize early food drives and turn in the donations at the Kampout. For details, to sign up to organize food drives or to make cash donations, visit

Relay fundraiser

KALEVA — The Kaleva Crusaders & Friends Relay for Life team will hold a soup/chili supper from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Kaleva Lion’s Den on Nine Mile Road. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Grief teleconference

TRAVERSE CITY — Hospice of Michigan’s 2013 National Bereavement Teleconference will focus on understanding the unique needs of veterans.

The free event will instruct professionals on how to better serve dying veterans and their families, with particular attention on veterans aging into end-of-life care, which includes veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
