David Lloyd Grant, D.D.S.

FRANKFORT — David Lloyd Grant, D.D.S., 72, of Frankfort, died Nov. 16, 2012, at his home. Born in Flint on March 30, 1940, he was the son of Lloyd A. and Donna E. (Wheater) Grant.

David married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Judith Kay Tubbs, on June 25, 1960.

David received an associate's degree in science from Mott Community College and D.D.S. Degree from University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1966.

He honorably served in the U.S. Navy as Lieutenant in the USNR Dental Corps in San Diego, Calif., from 1966 to 1968.

In 1969 David opened a private dental practice in Grand Blanc, treating all his patients as friends first. While in Grand Blanc he was very active in the community.

After retirement he and Judy built their dream home on Crystal Lake, where he had a lifelong love affair with Crystal Lake and Benzie County. Retirement brought a host of new friends and opportunities to serve in the community, especially the First Congregational Church of Frankfort and B.A.C.N.

He loved golfing with friends at Bear Lake Highlands, volunteering and oil painting. In fact, this year he shot his age, had his fifth hole-in-one and a birdie the last hole he played.

His greatest joy was visits from the grandkids and their parents and pontoon rides on Crystal Lake.

"I wish for health and happiness for all I knew."

He is survived by his wife, Judith; children, David A. (Melissa) Grant, Michael J. (Sandra) Grant and Julie E. Grant; grandchildren, David J. Tyler, Jaxon, Jacob, Jessica and Bailey; sister, Carrie Sue Aikin; brother-in-law, Jim (Margaret) Tubbs; nephews, Brian (Liz), Matt Auer and Tommy Tubbs; and niece, LeighAnne Tubbs

There will be a gathering for friends Sunday, Nov. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Jowett Family Funeral Home, 7223 South St., Benzonia. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the First Congregational Church of Frankfort, with the Rev. Dinah Haag officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Children's Hunger Fund, B.A.C.N or a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Jowett Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Frankfort and Benzonia.
