Flu cases are up
Lansing — Although it's early in the flu season, the Michigan Department of Community Health reports that more cases have already been reported this year than it typically sees.
Two influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported recently and there have been 149 positive influenza cases confirmed. This number does not reflect all cases diagnosed and reported in the state, as additional cases have been confirmed.
The MDCH recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year. Residents may call their physician, local health department, or use the Health Map Vaccine Finder at http://flushot.healthmap.org. See local story, Page 1A.
