FRANKFORT — Kalkaska clinched its first playoff berth since 2002 with a 42-20 non-conference win over Frankfort on Friday.
The Blazers (6-2) trailed 14-7 at half.
Zach Hill led the Blazers. He carried the ball 15 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns. His scoring runs covered 64 and 8 yards. Hill also caught three passes for 52 yards.
Kaleb Hauser added 59 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. He went in from 3, 12 and 19 yards.
Kaleb Baughman and Allen McLain led the defense with eight tackles. Will Noble intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown. Hill and Rob Standen also had picks.
David Loney scored on two short first-half runs for Frankfort (3-5). Brandon Schaub broke a 56-yard run in the second half. Schaub finished with 133 yards on the ground.
Grayling 63 East Jordan 29
Jake Swander completed 23 of 44 passes for 363 yards and six touchdowns as Grayling celebrated Homecoming with a 63-29 Lake Michigan Conference win over East Jordan.
The win improves the Vikings to 5-0 in the league and 8-0 overall and sets up a showdown next Friday at undefeated Boyne City.
Tyler McClanahan hauled in six passes for 125 yards and a score. Scott Parkinson added eight receptions for 94 yards and three touchdowns. Ty Jensen caught four passes for 45 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 96 yards and a score.
Grayling backup quarterback Jake Hoover tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to exchange student Ki-Whan Kim. Hoover also rushed the ball for 45 yards and a score.
Dave Somero had eight tackles on defense for the Vikings.
Harbor Springs 19 Charlevoix 7
Harbor Springs posted a 19-7 Lake Michigan Conference win over Charlevoix.
The Rams improved to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the league with the win.
Charlevoix, now 0-8 overall, had tied the game at 7 at the end of the first quarter on a three-yard sneak by Luke Klinger.
Mancelona 50 Forest Area 6
Wyatt Derrer rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns as Mancelona clinched the Ski Valley South with a 50-6 win over Forest Area.
The Ironmen (8-0, 5-0) have now won 25 regular season games in a row.
Logan Borst ran for 72 yards and two scores while Trevor Ackler picked up 57 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Eric Wheeler also scored for the Ironmen, who travel to Inland Lakes next Friday.
Defensively, J.R. Cook led the Ironmen with five tackles. Cody Derrer and Nick Balhorn recovered fumbles while Wyatt Derrer, Borst and Dalton Sulz all had interceptions.
Johannesburg 56 Gaylord St. Mary 6
Johannesburg-Lewiston clinched a playoff spot with a 56-6 Ski Valley win over Gaylord St. Mary.
Mitch Hardy rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns for the Cardinals (6-2, 4-1). Dillon Kibby picked up 201 all-purpose yards. He returned a punt 65 yards for a score.
Dylan Helms led the defense with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery.
Central Lake 45 Onaway 14
Central Lake kept its playoff hopes alive with a 45-14 Ski Valley Conference win over Onaway.
The Trojans (5-3) play Rudyard next week and can guarantee a berth with a win.
Will Brockman had a big game for Central Lake, running 22 times for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two touchdown passes.
Defensively, Tyler Moran had eight tackles.
Manistee 50 Suttons Bay 20
Manistee scored 20 unanswered points in the second half for a 50-20 non-league win over Suttons Bay.
The Chippewas led 30-20 at half.
Bob Burnias tossed two touchdown passes for the Norsemen (1-7), a 73-yarder to Carter Hanson and a four-yarder to Sean Lammy. Lammy fired a seven-yard touchdown pass to Jake Kiessel.
Lammy finished 8 of 20 passing for 91 yards. Hanson caught three passes for 86 yards. Chase Pattison rushed for 98 yards.
Cluadio Ruiz led the defense with 16 tackles and a sack. Shocko Shawandase was in on 12 stops and Zack Rice 10.
McBain 49 Pine River 0
Junior halfback Zach Stephan scored on runs of 4 and 33 yards and amassed 111 yards rushing as host McBain routed Pine River 49-0. The Ramblers (3-5, 2-3 Highland) forced four turnovers in the contest.
Senior Jared Larr tossed 12 yards to tight end Tyler Dick for a score and tallied on an 18-yard run. Halfback Andy Lucas recorded 96 yards in 14 carries with a TD and fullback Casey Nicholas had 49 yards in eight carries with a TD. Sophomore Jordan Vanderhoef swept 55 yards to a score for the No. 2 offense.
Safety Kyle Cherry had two interceptions for the Ramblers. Jimmy Schneider and Jake Kamphouse also had picks.
Lake City 49 Manton 12
Lake City built a 35-6 lead at half en route to a 49-12 Highland Conference win over Manton.
For the Rangers (4-4, 2-3), Alex Powell rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown. Jonathan Jenkins completed 14 of 16 passes for 98 yards and a score. Tristen Rosted hauled in the touchdown pass.
Aaron Powell led the defense with 12 tackles. Alex Powell had 10 with a sack.
Cedarville 28 Bellaire 14
Bellaire gave Cedarville its biggest test of the season, but came up short in a 28-14 loss.
Before Friday, unbeaten Cedarville's closest game had been a 32-8 victory over Deckerville. The Trojans were outscoring opponents 52-7.
Chase Small scored both touchdowns for Bellaire (5-3) and finished with 27 carries for 124 yards. Zach Smith scored the two-point conversion.
Defensivley, Jacob Campis had nine tackles while Small added seven. Wes Villafane had an interception.
Leland 2 Elk Rapids 1
Dylan Jolliffe netted two goals as Leland defeated Elk Rapids 2-1 in a non-league showdown.
"A huge win for our program," Comets coach Joe Burda said.
Leland is now 20-3 heading into district action Monday at Charlevoix.
Matt Fleis assisted on both of Jolliffe's goals. Mike Farese was in goal for the Comets.
Ryan McChesney scored for the Elks off an assist from Kam Johnson.
The Elks outshot the Comets 14-6.
