Holiday shopping child care
KALKASKA — Peoples Church of Kalkaska will offer child care services on Saturday, Dec. 14, to allow parents time to go Christmas shopping.
Certified professional care will be available from 1-5 p.m. at the church, 216 S. Cherry St. Parents are encouraged to call 258-9365 to reserve a spot.
Then they just need to bring their children, sign them in and complete a medical information form. Games, a movie, foosball, air hockey, nursery toys and snacks will be provided.
CADILLAC — The Fonda Starr Band will provide music for an old-time country dance on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The dance will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at 9116 E. 13th St., next to Kiley Chiropractic. Free dance instruction is provided and listeners are welcome. Donations are appreciated. For details, call 920-8389.
THOMPSONVILLE — Paid registrations are needed by Friday, Dec. 13, for a Medical First Responder course being offered by Munson Healthcare.
The class will meet from 6-10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Saturday/Sunday sessions from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. from Dec. 17 to Feb. 18 at Thompsonville Fire and EMS Department, 14714 Lincoln Ave. It is for individuals wishing to function in a first responder role with a rescue or other first response unit.

TRAVERSE CITY — The Presbyterian Women’s Association at The Presbyterian Church’s Holiday Cookie Walk features a medley of homemade holiday cookies, bread and candies.
The event will be open from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., or while supplies last, on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the church, 701 Westminster Road. Cookies are $7 per pound. Candies and breads are individually priced.
‘No Home for the Holidays’
TRAVERSE CITY — A concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, will benefit people experiencing homelessness.
“No Home for the Holidays” will start at 4 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 341 Washington St. Featured performers include soprano Hannah Stone, the Central High School Choral-Aires, the West Middle School Madrigal Singers, a sing-along and more. A reception will follow.
A free-will offering will be accepted for Jubilee House, Grace Church’s homeless outreach ministry, and Dann’s House, a planned project to provide housing for people experiencing homelessness and chronic alcoholism. Jubilee House also will accept donations of socks, hats, gloves, hand warmers, snack bars and toiletry items to distribute to its clients.
