Majerle to coach college

PHOENIX, Az. — Former Traverse City Central star Dan Majerle has accepted a job to take over for Russ Pennell as head basketball coach at Grand Canyon University, according to an Arizona Sports report.

The Antelopes lost in the first round of the NCAA Division II West regional on Friday, and afterwards it was announced that Pennell was resigning. Pennell was 72-44 in four seasons. Grand Canyon is moving up to Division I next season.

Majerle most recently was an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns, a team he played with for eight years. Majerle left his assistant's job in January.
