TRAVERSE CITY — Authorities continue to hunt for a man who may have tried to abduct two young boys.
The boys were playing in their yard in the Holiday Hills area at about 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve when a man drove up and asked them to get in his car.
The boys, 8 and 9, said no and ran away. Deputies were called, but they couldn't locate the suspect. Considering his actions, they're plenty interested in tracking him down.
"We definitely want to figure out who it was and talk to him to find out what his intentions were," Grand Traverse Sheriff's Lt. Bryan Marrow said.
The man was described by a neighbor as being in his mid-40s, with thick, black square glasses and pitted skin. He was driving a purple 1990 or 1991 Honda or Lexus.
Tips could be a huge assistance, Marrow said, especially if anyone saw the man or his vehicle at about the time of the incident or since them. Investigators have re-interviewed the boys and neighbor but don't have much new information.
Anyone with information is asked to call the call the Silent Observer tip line at (231) 947-TIPS.
