TRAVERSE CITY — Marquette and Midland Dow posted a combined 4-0 record in the Traverse City Classic on Friday.
The pair of non-Traverse City teams leave the two-day tourney with a mark of 7-1 in the event that pits Traverse City Central and West against the two other squads in both boys and girls games each day.
Traverse City West's girls fell 40-32 to the Redettes, who boast a 6-2 mark for the season.
Paris Wagner had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Titans, while Katie Placek chipped in 10 points and eight boards. Hunter Viitala led Marquette with 21 points.
West's boys dropped a 59-43 decision to the Redmen (5-0), who were led by Mark pap's 19 points and seven rebounds. Kendrick Meyer had 16 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks for the Titans.
Central's boy's fell 70-55 to Dow, despite 22 points from Ethan Pilarski. Midland (4-3) was led by 18 points by Gavin Groszek, 16 from Andrew Cassidy and 15 by Malik Garner.
The Trojans dropped the JV game 51-32, as Danny Brott scored 11 points.
The Trojan girls suffered a 57-39 setback. They were led by nine points from Taylor Cobb and six each from Madi Bankey and Tyler Rawlins. Kristine Mussell led Dow (9-0) with 11 points.
Central's JV won, however, pulling out a 40-32 victory. The Trojans were paced by 12 points from Michaila Shepler, eight by Carolyn Wynkoop and seven each from Kelsey Acton and Rosemary Cook.
